I was just looking through temperature averages/records of Oklahoma, and I found something bizarre and very interesting. The November 11th max and min records were both set in 1911! http://www.mesonet.org/index.php/news/article/november_11_1911_a_palindrome_to_remember Can anyone find anything like this for any other location? That must have been one hell of a temperature drop.

The Great Blue Norther of 11/11/11 was a cold snap that affected the central United States on Saturday, November 11, 1911. Many cities broke record highs early that afternoon. By nightfall, cities were dealing with single-digit temperatures on the fahrenheit scale. This is the only day in many Midwest cities' weather bureau jurisdictions where the record highs and lows were broken for the same day. Some cities experienced tornadoes on Saturday and a blizzard on Sunday. The main cause of such a dramatic cold snap was an extremely strong storm system separating warm, humid air from frigid, arctic air. Dramatic cold snaps tend to occur mostly in the month of November, though they can also come in February or March. The cold front (The Great Blue Norther) roured across the state of Oklahoma. On that afternoon, Oklahoma City reached a record high temperature of 83 degrees. With the passage of the front the temperatures dropped 50-65 degrees in the span of a few hours. By midnight, the temperature at Oklahoma City had plunged to a frigid 17 degrees, the record low for that same date. Both records still stand, marking November 11th, 1911, as the only date in state history in which the record high and low temperatures were broken on the same day for a single location. By early morning on the 12th, the temperature had dropped to 14°F (-10°C) – a drop of 69 F degrees (38.3 C deg) in less than 24 hours. I would imagine that for many on the forum the excitement would have been too much.
