This stream auto-updates

  1. Past hour
  2. Election Day turning wet and windy for many, hill snow in the north. Staying unsettled & windy through the weekend and next week, with further hill snow, chilly before turning milder later next week. Read the full update here
  3. Still major differences between the ext GEFS and EPS vis the upstream and Arctic profiles so this still needs to be resolved. One thing that is similar is the strong westerly upper flow exiting the eastern seaboard south of the vortex extension. This backs sharply in the vicinity of the UK, courtesy of the European ridge which is now extending into the Arctic Some downwelling?
  4. Heights rising around Svalbard.....always a good sign for coldies in wedge scenarios .......next few runs will show the direction of travel for the mid term ....don’t rule out some surprises as the trough to our sw lifts out in the 5/6 day period .... maybe a narrow snow line somewhere across the U.K.
  5. Just seen it on the BBC. Would like to know more if anyone on here can shed light on it?
  6. Mild and wet weather has always been the prevailing winter weather type here though, even 50 years ago. Same goes for summer - we have an oceanic/temperate climate, not a continental one, so mild/average summers are the most common....and the cold winter/warm summer duo is almost unheard of. But hey, that's what makes us obsessed with the weather in this country, the 'what if' factor is huge here and makes the chase all the more fun.
  7. ECM much better than the GFS without being anything too exceptional....it's so different though that it's really unhelpful. GFS would lead to nothing. Ensembles not holding many clues either.
  8. Today

  10. Sure was. Drove over to Lymington and back, last night. Pony/deer/cow watch was easy, as the open forest lit up a treat.
  11. How can Sheffield be below average when the CET is above normal for the same sort of temperature ?

  14. Seems as though the New - Integrated Forecasts have caught on to something big today Temperatures seem a little odd though...
  15. like this one, big difference though, we're warmer 21 years on, 0.2 degrees warmer can make all the difference between 6cms and nothing especially at low levels
  16. EC day 10 GFS day 10 Slight divergence in the run up to christmas then!
  17. The theme from the ecm next week is initially similar to the gfs but the energy quickly gains the upper hand leading to more cyclonic wet and windy weather
  18. Annoying 0.0C minimum so no air frost bloody cloud gone and done it again.
  19. Yes that's I was thinking. But in reality we need the jet to buckle or head on a southerly track. Each time we get a slider it holds hope that some heights can build in the right areas.
  20. This is my take, that HP looks pretty potent and likely to strengthen due to a lack of encroaching PV - LPs look like l’y to slide underneath.
  21. Morning All, and for a moment I dreamt it was frosty outside, actually it was until around 4am, when the cloud came in and then just over an hour later the rain falleth..so temperature wise 6.7°C..
