The morning was disappointing as the showers were fairly potent. The afternoon was lovely however, winds fell lighter and very sunny reaching 12.8c. Fields are now starting to look really good, plenty grass coming through. I passed a gritter working (Felt weird when the car was still reading 13c and I had the A/C on due to my car being a greenhouse) earlier so anticipating a frost.

A nice day forecast for tomorrow, but we shall see. A Crewe win in the big game v Wrexham would make it a really nice day. My neighbour is heading to N W Scotland on Sunday whilst we're heading to the East Coast. Guess who's happier?!

Warmest day of the year so far here with it reaching 17.1°C but it didn't feel that warm in the breeze. Had a couple of showers this afternoon but otherwise it was mostly sunny.

Sherry Not completely dry no- but next week is looking drier for this area at least- as this week that was supposed to be dry- has actually turned out rather wet.

Getting really down now, no sign of any warmth at all. Wind today was sheer murder. Awful spring.

Scorcher it don’t look particularly dry tbh, the only good thing would be with it being warmer and the sun stronger it should help evaporate some of it so things should dry out easier and quicker

Scuba steve just walked in the living room as the Granada regional weather was on and wish I’d have turned the other way. Apparently Saturday looks to be the best day with plenty of sunshine but then she put in the disclaimer that the more eastern parts will keep the cloud Sunday is supposed to be a more cloudy day so whether my cloud is more cloudy than Saturdays cloud I’ll have to wait and see either way it looks like west is best and east is least so maybe I can make the short walk over the hill from East Lancashire into West Yorkshire and bask in their wall to wall sunshine

Alderc 2.0 Believe it or not, I recorded 17.2C this afternoon, which is now the warmest it's got so far this year on my station. Pretty pathetic for two thirds of the way through April.

LetItSnow! Dismal sunshine yes, though the overall figure does hide the fact that most of the overcast skies were in the opening week or so, and maybe around the 10th onwards, sunshine has been at least average in parts, maybe a touch over for some. We've definitely enjoyed very good sunny spells round these parts since the middle of the second week of the month.

As much as I would like some more warmth before the month is done, there is a part of me that wants a cooler second half for 1) to get closer to my CET guess of 9.6C and 2) is that well this month as few others have mentioned is undeserving of any warm records given the lack of sun and still a lot of rainfall overall, so I am glad in a way the CET will not end up in the low 11s, high 10s or even now the mid 10s like the wonderful month of April 2020 was.

Metwatch Interesting that it's turning into another month with the brunt of the warm anomalies in England, especially the south. Considering the month is only slightly above average in Scotland, will this colder second half lead to just an average month for temperature in Scotland? Granted the anomalies are against the 1991-2020 averages, so no - but for the current era maybe. Only at the 19th and a large swathe of northern England and southern Scotland are exceptionally above normal for rainfall. Granted its only the 19th but sunshine tracking to be pretty dismal everywhere. Absolutely no surprise given the south-westerlies that dominated the first half.

It’s actually turned out a decent ‘ish’ day. Some decent sunny spells and just 1 or 2 showers. Even an average day feels like a victory this year.

Done some stat round ups, mainly rainfall and sunshine in post below. Mid part of this April has seen an improvement to the first part of the month. Though could be better, at the same time could also be much worse!

*Stormforce~beka* If you'd ever seen Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, you'd know. Absolutely lovely now and has been for an hour, or so. Sunny and warm, out of the breeze. If the farmer hadn't been muck spreading today, it'd be perfect.

Oh come on! You got to be joking, look at the forecast for Sunday. Even the dry spells are wet…..
