Not untypical North Sea 'Lake Effect' snow shower.
If the wind goes slightly East of North it is a frequent occurrence for shower trains to pummel the North York Moors as they 'jut out' significantly from the coast and rise to almost 1500 feet.
As the moisture laden air rises up over the high ground exceptional snowfall rates can occur and thunder is not unusual.
