Headline: Unsettled with rain or showers at times; around average temperatures

Summer arrived last week with temperatures into the low 80's for the Midlands, and completely dry for most of us until this weekend's showers, however even these have only produced a tiny 0.3mm here at Llanwnnen. We are now firmly back into a cooler, unsettled weather regime which is set to last well into the first half of August. The low 70's f will be the highest readings during the coming week, with rain or showers on most days too. Low pressure sticks close to Ireland and then Scotland from mid week onwards.

Monday will have sunny intervals with only a scattering of showers, so some places missing these. A cool day temperatures no higher than 18c. Low pressure systems are queuing up in the Atlantic to bring some rain into Wales during Monday night. A mostly cloudy damp day for Tuesday, some of the rain could be quite heavy for west Wales first thing, but turning lighter and more drizzly later on. More wet weather for Tuesday night, especially for west Wales again, and a windy night too, but a mild, humid night.

A rather deep Summer low sits close to Ireland on Wednesday, so showers or longer spells of rain for all of us,some heavy, with a chance of thunder. Some sunny intervals too for Wednesday, but with a fresh to strong southerly wind. Temperatures around average at 20 - 23c, warmest for the Midlands. This low then does not move far for the rest of the week, just edging in a little closer to be centred over Ireland or Scotland This means sunny intervals and showers, some heavy and possibly thundery. It will be breezy but at least with the wind from the south or south-west, it will feel pleasantly warm in the sunny intervals, temperatures reaching between 19c and 22c, and no doubt some places missing the worst of the showers as is usual in such set ups.

And into next weekend, low pressure still dominating, but not as deep by then, so perhaps fewer showers and longer dry and sunny spells between times. Temperatures a touch cooler reaching just below the early August average, so 19 to 21c at best
