Greedy B*stards
This year is the first year we have had to book a holiday during school holidays.
We are going to the Isle of Wight (my favourite haven in the world.... well, in the affordable world). Anyway. Last year, we went in June for 1 week, and it cost (board and ferry ride) £400 for all 3 of us. This year, its costing £700. The reason? We are limited to going in school holidays.
An hour's ferry ride (no doubt packed to the rafters without a seat) is costing us £150 alone. Thats without the petrol to drive to Southampton - so we are already talking £200 just to get there. Does fuel go up during August? No. The place we are staying (although a different place from last year) is costing £200 more for the week. The reason? To fleece hard working parents who they know are limited to go during certain months or weeks of the year.
I knew we would have to pay extra to stay somewhere - thats the same home or abroad. But the ferry has annoyed me big time. If Emily could bloody swim, I'd bung a pair of arm bands on her and we would swim there!
Still, all the same, I am looking forward to a week where all 3 of us can relax.... but remind me next year to book somewhere where we can just drive and not get fleeced by a greedy ferry company.
Anyway, after such a miserable, humpy blog, I am pleased to announce that Emily has been presented at school with the 'citizen of the week' award for 'her good attidude towards learning and people'. I just pray she doesnt get in with the wrong crown the older she gets <_<
