The Phil and Looby Show (day 2)

No smoking day 2. Fine so far- actually really good. Monday in the Parking Unit is not a good day- phone goes none stop. The only blip I had was at 2.15 this afternoon with a "idiot" - I use the word for little eyes (get my meaning ) who wanted a permit for parking after getting a penalty charge notice. He had a go at me. BIGGGGG mistake. Mood turned blacker than the sky from a supercell from France. This was the conversation. "You want a beat message" -Me "Yeah- I can't get to your offic

Update

Well it's been a long time since I updated so here goes. All been very quiet, love my new job as a Civil Enforcement Officer- the rota takes some getting used to, but nearly 3 months in, I think I can remember it by now! Off to Germany on Saturday to see the Christmas Markets - of course I have developed a stinking cold yesterday so lovely Tescos have sold me some cold treatments. Time for North West Tonight to see the snow- nothing here!

Frosty Accidents And The Damned Dangerous........

Sums up my day. There was a bad accident last night on the Woodhead Pass and one this morning on the Snake Pass. You could see all the flashing blue lights from tescos car park at 630 this morning. I decided to take it really slowly on the back roads, but of course some plank decided that 30 mph on an icy road wasn't fast enough. So he over took me. Plonker I thought (you know the real word I thought). Get around the next corner only to find the Vauxhall Vectra half in the wall, half on the ro

Bah Humbug

I really can't believe it's 11 days to the big day. I'm in such a bah humbag mood it's unreal. Went out at lunchtime in Rotherham looking for Christmas presents, the only thing I bought, was a jar of coffee for the office....... Rotherham has the biggest inflatable snowman going in the town centre- i had some enormous urge to put my lit ciggie into it and deflat it Really getting depressed and I just don't know why. I normally love this time of year. Hopefully it's a passing phase.

The New Traffic Management Act

The world of Parking is changing. Currently Plymouth City Council works under the Road Traffic Act 1991- with Parking Attendants and Penalty Charge Notices. However from 31 March, it all changes with the Traffic Management Act 2004 coming in and all the legal wording changes. By the way, we have no option but to do this- its under orders of central government that we must do this. So everything has to be changed- all paperwork, rules, regulations have to be relearnt and rewritten. Parking Att

Interviewing

We all feel nervous when we have a job interview. The thing is being on a panel of people doing the interviewing isn't much fun either. You have 10 set questions for a council job in Parking. Most are fairly standard- but you get the same responses time after time- hence you end up concentrating looking for the unique things the person says. So you come out having done the interviews feeling like you've gone 10 rounds with a boxer. And remember, the interviewee only goes through it once. Yesterd

Review Of The Year 2008

Well as I'm transferring the Calendar dates onto the new 2009 one, lets have a review of 2008. Not a bad year overall. There have been some good and bad points. Good Points. 1) Changing jobs to be Civil Enforcement Officer. Yes its not good when cold and wet, but pay is the same as the old office job which stressed me out and I do love the work! 2) Holiday in New Forest (first week of May). Little did we know, that was as good as the weather was going to get. 23c in New Milton and gett

Painting

Today I am painting the lounge. I've had enough of creams and magnolia (boring!!!) and have plumped for a colour called Woodland Glade from Focus. Its a lovely classic green and will look lovely with the green sofa. Plus because Focus is closing in Plymouth I got the paint at a lovely cheap price, although I did feel a tad guilty about the people losing their jobs right on Christmas. And then when I've finished- the Christmas Decs can go up.

Daddy's Little Helper.

I had to bring some work home tonight, well actually it's 3 months filing. Tasmin (my little 18 month old little staffy cross) decides to help Daddy and promptly shreads August's records.......... The fact that it's all letters of complaint is quite funny, and she's still chewing on letters as I type this somehow makes it even better. My boss will be happy tomorrow when I explain this in the monthly meeting. Could be P45 time!

A trip to A&E

I spent 2 hours in A&E this morning. I woke up and had real problems breathing, plus I had a pain in left arm. As a result, the other ex decided that he'd had enough and took me to Derriford Hospital. I felt a bit of a fraud- but I had an ECG (all fine) but the chest infection has got worse overnight. The docs have now doubled my antibiotics and given me some strong painkillers, and thankfully they seem to be working, but it's early doors. Work have been good- told me to come back when I'm

Civil Partnership Plans (28days to go)

Darren and I get "Civil Partnershiped" 4 weeks today. Frankly we need a wedding planner. Or a Civil Partnership planner. You name it, it's gone wrong lately. The wedding party was to be held at our best mates pub. He took it over last September. Then 5 weeks ago this happened..... See below. Yup the glass washer set the whole pub up in flames. We've spent hours trying to sort things out- washing cleaning, but the insurance company have finally decided to rebuild. Luckily the fire crew got Dav

Day 8

I have been to the Doc's. No, still not smoking, but went for a training run yesterday for a 10k I've signed up for. And tore my hamstring behind by left knee . Doc thinks I'll be fine, just hope that it heals before 4th May.

Pills

The doctors visit was encourging- but I'm glad I went. Basically i have very high blood pressure (130 over 100). The nurse said my top figure was ok, but the resting figure the 100 is way way too high. So I have a month on tablets called Propranlol- and more importantly no alcohol for a month and to try and take things a bit easier and start exercising. So it least it's getting sorted. I had one last blast out last night- a small headache this morning but I can live with it! Wish me luck

Sleep

Ever get a week when you've worked yourself to a standstill? I am so tired tonight it's not true. Comes from having no money for car parking---- pay day at midnight yippie. However I've been getting up for work at 530am all week as a result just so I can get free parking. Weather was really icy this morning, and I did skid on the back roads to the Woodhead pass, luckily I did keep my speed low. Left work at at quarter to four tonight, as I thought the roads would get worse. I was right, jus

Early start= Early Finish

Started work at 640am- finished at 315pm. Lovely. Home to avoid all the works christmas parties. We cancelled our at work. No interest. Boring lot. I'm going out next weekend. On my own. No nasty work colleagues to deal with!!

Shingles

I have woken up and according to NHS Direct I have shingles. I haven't been feeling too well for a couple of days now- but the itchiing is awful. I had chicken pox when I was 6, so this is certainly shingles. Doctors tomorrow.

Naughty

I was very naughty last night. It envolved a BBQ- a bottle of vodka, 4 very close friends and a camcorder. I'm not the one in hiding today. The neighbours are a bit surprised at certain activities coming from our garden last night.

Brass Monkeys

Today was the first day I actually felt cold during the day. Well actually it was bloody freezing outside the registry office at work as I was having by afternoon fag behind the bins . Mind you it was 4pm and dark so I shouldn't have expected any different. The funny thing is, is that as i came over the Pennines tonight, it seemed to get warmer. Now I'm not one to get my markers out, but when I left Rotherham it was cold and I needed to do my jacket up fully, but by the time I came into Glosso

No smoking versus Oreo Biscuits

I've lost count but still no ciggies! Going ok- hard day at work today- with damn staff playing up, but had a meeting with my boss and took my Nicorette Inhalator into the meeting and pretended to flick fag ash into my cup of hot tea Oh and my training for my 10k didn't happen tonight. Instead I rediscovered my long lost love. Finally after 7 years (and having had them in the USA) I discoverd Asda are selling Oreo biscuits. Trust me in the biscuit world they are god like  . Sickyness

Knee really bad- back to work today after 2 days off. Not good. Plus an operation to come. I'm scared. Really scared  The last time I had an operation, I spent 10 days in ICU on life support. The thought of an operation is really freaking me out now. I'm going to go to councilling about it to try and help me out.

Knackered Knee

I was told last week on top of stress from work, that I need an op on my knee. My cartilidge is gone in my left knee. Now this set off several problems for me. The last time I had an op in 2000, I spent 10 days in ICU on life support from a mistake from a surgeon who cut through an artery when my appendix had to come out. So I had 2 op's in 5 hours. Next problem- this has left me scared stiff of hospitals. Big style. So, muggings here, was think until today, take 3 Ibropuben each night for
