Shingles

I have woken up and according to NHS Direct I have shingles. I haven't been feeling too well for a couple of days now- but the itchiing is awful. I had chicken pox when I was 6, so this is certainly shingles. Doctors tomorrow.

More Terror alerts.

In line with Katie's blog and events in Exeter yesterday- Plymouth had 2 serious incidents today although no bombings luckily. Basically I was day off today, so decided to go into town for a pint (or 3) at lunchtime. Being a responsible person we took the bus into town- only to get caught in the 1st alert in North Hill (around the University and library). Thought nothing of it- and walked the back way to the pub on Bretonside. However when we left to catch the bus on Royal Parade- all hell had b

Weekend Mix! (copying main strap line from Net Weather)!

Day 7 - still no ciggies!!! Bit of a weird mix this blog. OK still no ciggies- no blips- bar Thursday night when I left work at 630pm instead of 4pm due to workload. No bus home- only the word "delay". So decided rather than run to Spar for "10 Richmond" and a lighter- I power walked home. Friday at work- manic ( darn Traffic Management Act 2004 changes on 31 March)- will explain on tomorrows blog! Today. Got new caravan. Again will explain tomorrow! But internet update........

The things you do

It's been really busy at work today- lots going on,and I knew I was going to be late. So I rang home with a order to Darren "I want burger and chips for tea (comfort food) and I fancy a glass of wine (for glass read bottle)" The thing is it's January and 5 1/2 weeks since payday and still 1 week to go. Bless him the burger and chips not a problem (well we are all chavs on occasions ). But the wine. More tricky. So As I type this- thanks to the £2.67 found down the back of the sofa is a love

Simple Pleasures

OK- a another new noval thing. A Sunday morning lie in. So lie until 10am.Then another old friend rediscovered- "Something for the Weekend" on BBC2 at 10am. A perfect TV programme for a Sunday morning in your dressing gown with the Sunday Times (me) and the News of the World (Darren and me secretly ) Then a nice fry up breakfast, followed by taking the dogs for a long walk around Saltram House estate (National Trust) here in Plymouth on a cold crisp dry day with some sunny periods. Projection Screen TV

There was one big advantage from the pub closing- we took the Projection Screen TV- which means 82 inch square screen. In our lounge! I don't need glasses to watch the football results anymore Mind you scary thing is that you can see Sharon Osbournes staple marks from the all the plastic surgery

Christmas Lights- Chav style

My house is on an ex council estate. Until today it was the only house on the estate without any lights outside. It was decided that this made our house worse than some of the others. So I've invested in some lights from Wilkinsons for £4.99. Given the gales forecast for tonight, it may be £4.99 down the drain Oh and here's the Christmas Tree circa 2007!!!

A Fresh Start

Time to update In my last blog I was gutted, upset. And yes I left him. The end result of that was horrendous, awful, but in a weird way, my work life actually improved!! Last weekend was a total watershed. I will never go into the details online- but I had the worst night of my life last Friday night. I am so proud of Darren for his reactions and actions since- but the end result is finally and after a long week of talking until 3/4am each morning- I have moved back home and put my wedding r

Rest in Peace

After 4 years of tireless hard work my iron has finally died. In quite spectacular fashion (no pun intended)- it has managed to fuse the house totally However, this means I cannot do my weekly chore until pay day. - will I get away with creased shirts at work??

Naughty

I was very naughty last night. It envolved a BBQ- a bottle of vodka, 4 very close friends and a camcorder. I'm not the one in hiding today. The neighbours are a bit surprised at certain activities coming from our garden last night.

Training and STRESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Half my work team have decided that they hate me. With a passion. I was told to my face that I was a liar, a divider and that I didn't care. This after I send weekly emails and praise them all at the weekly meeting - Ijust don't know. However, they tried the same tack with the guy before me, HR are fully aware. What made it all the more shocking was to be threated by one of my staffs husband, who happens to work in the same building, in front 2 neutral staff. So tomorrow could be fun.......

Brass Monkeys

Today was the first day I actually felt cold during the day. Well actually it was bloody freezing outside the registry office at work as I was having by afternoon fag behind the bins . Mind you it was 4pm and dark so I shouldn't have expected any different. The funny thing is, is that as i came over the Pennines tonight, it seemed to get warmer. Now I'm not one to get my markers out, but when I left Rotherham it was cold and I needed to do my jacket up fully, but by the time I came into Glosso

Pills

The doctors visit was encourging- but I'm glad I went. Basically i have very high blood pressure (130 over 100). The nurse said my top figure was ok, but the resting figure the 100 is way way too high. So I have a month on tablets called Propranlol- and more importantly no alcohol for a month and to try and take things a bit easier and start exercising. So it least it's getting sorted. I had one last blast out last night- a small headache this morning but I can live with it! Wish me luck

Happy New Year Everybody

Well I hope you all had a FANTASTIC Christmas. We've got home from sunny Plymouth about an hour ago. Lots of partying, fun, frolics, and I've got a black eye (but then that's what happens when some of my friends get rather silly on alcohol! Play hitting got slightly out of hand ) Actually it was all rather nice, catching up on all the gossip and seeing who's seeing who now. Went to church Xmas Eve, had mince pies with my Aunt and Uncle on Boxing Day, just the usual, normal NICE Christmas. Oh

Alcoholic Headaches

Hallam FM have taken a well known xmas advert and changed the words, they seemed rather apt yesterday.... "hangovers are coming, hangovers are coming, all drink the real thing" (thats the coke ad ) blimey my head pounded yesterday, . Looked at my last blog, blimey i must have been bad. All I know is i slept on the landing (missed the bedroom) and Daz wouldn't talk to me. So I'm told, I was singing carols at the top of my voice at 1130 having failed to get my key in the front door I have sp

Christmas Spirit Hick!

So I forgot the alarm this morning, so that was a mad morning rush. Pay day today, not coffee bar decaf- all the taste no buzz! Anyway works lunch which turned into, "can highways beat parking on pint for pint".Answer, yup, parking wins....... thats some hangover in Mexborough Mr Lineacre. Sorry if daffodiled but Xmas has started. Will have hangover from hell tomorrow........

Bah Humbug

I really can't believe it's 11 days to the big day. I'm in such a bah humbag mood it's unreal. Went out at lunchtime in Rotherham looking for Christmas presents, the only thing I bought, was a jar of coffee for the office....... Rotherham has the biggest inflatable snowman going in the town centre- i had some enormous urge to put my lit ciggie into it and deflat it Really getting depressed and I just don't know why. I normally love this time of year. Hopefully it's a passing phase.

Kitchen Disaster

Been an eventful week. The oven caught fire last Sunday  the thing was old and knackered but the fire was quite spectacular. Anyway, firemen came around and put the oven out, the roast was ruined. So it's been insurance forms all week. We lost the kitchen lino (melted), ceilling (burnt), worktops (nothing wrong with them but we're claiming as they are old ). its been microwave meals and takeaways all week. But the new oven is due next week, and hopefully we'll have a kitchen in th

Xmas Lights

Why is it when you pack away your Xmas lights from last year they work perfectly? You pack them away in a nice tidy bundle, but when you come to get them out, the Loft Fairies have been using them for nesting and they don't work! So you spend 2 hours finding the bulb that doesn't work and then when you put them on the tree they fuse throwing the whole house into darkness. This is has been my morning. I'm off to Focus to buy a new set. I have no doubt the same will happen next year Still it

Hard To Keep A Secret

Well it's been an odd week, snow Monday, ice Tuesday, wet since. Home life is good, with my new PC coming tomorrow morning. Thanks to AOL messing up, i have a new router (£80) for free working, meaning top speed broadband. EXCELLENT Work, well thats a different matter. For reasons I can't go into, i've spent 3 hours with the police today. Thankfully nothing wrong with my Parking Lads and Ladies, more helping for a neighbouring force in an enquiry. I've been able to talk to Daz about it (than

Snowed In

Well what a day! Put GMTV on at 6am to hear the words snow on the Peak District today. Looked out the window to NOTHING, but icy windowscreen. Anyway got to work for 730, and thought nothing of it, other than, a long Monday ahead. Then I got the call that changed the day. "Phil it's me, you'd better come home, it's snowing badly". Thanks Daz i thought. And to be honest, the roads out of Rotherham were clear. Started thinking dark thoughts like "idiot getting me home, theres no snow". But as I

Stomach Bug And Snow

I'm off sick today, got a nasty stomach bug, of which the details are just too gruesome to explain. However it is nice not to worry about people ringing me and moaning at me........ SO, the burning question is, will it snow? Managed to get the dogs out for a walk yesterday on the Woodhead railway line, and even our friends who can with us couldn't believe just how cold it was. The hills have got a "blue" look to them at the moment, and the last time they looked like that was February. We had 2

Sleep

Ever get a week when you've worked yourself to a standstill? I am so tired tonight it's not true. Comes from having no money for car parking---- pay day at midnight yippie. However I've been getting up for work at 530am all week as a result just so I can get free parking. Weather was really icy this morning, and I did skid on the back roads to the Woodhead pass, luckily I did keep my speed low. Left work at at quarter to four tonight, as I thought the roads would get worse. I was right, jus
