Time To Update- And Moving Home.

I can't believe it's September and i haven't entered a new entry. So here's quick update. We're moving again. But in a good way, we're going home to Plymouth I've somehow manged to get a serious promotion into management with Plymouth City Council. It's going to be hard to leave all my friends at Rotherham Council, but if somebody offers you a £7000 pay rise and no travelling what would you do? So it's been a mad month, packing, looking for a new house and a job for Daz. We have managed to

Last day and a sad ending

Today is our last full day in Glossop. Left work yesterday, and had a serious panic atack in the middle of my presentation- so much so, my boss thought i was having a heart attack. :o It was a combination of no food, stress and too much beer the night before, but boy has it scared me. Think I'll see a doctor as soon as a get home to Plymouth. Wish us luck, as we move some 300 miles south, back home.

Confessions

I have been married for 3 months. I will probably be filing for divorce after today. My "husband"- and I currently use that word lightly- didn't manage to come home last night. When I found him in the pub at lunchtime he was 4 parts to the wind and told me he'd had a lovely night in the local Holiday Inn with a another guy. Then to make matters when better- he tells me this the sixth time this has happened in the 6 years we've been together. So after 4 hours of finding out this information -

34 tomorrow

Tomorrow is my birthday. I will be 34. I asked Darren "How did I get to be 34?" He replied "You should have been drowned at birth!" With some of the things I did in 20's maybe he's got a point. At least I'm off work tomorrow. Good ole Flexi

Not copying Looby (honest)

1st day of not smoking for us as well. So far, so ...........well ordinary. Done the ironing, watched Something for the Weekend, eaten a tin of mackeral, just going to have a cup of Bovril. Oh and an overwheling desire to kill other half. Mind u, he's in the corner gently rocking from shock (he was a much heavier smoker compared to me). Actually feel sorry for him. Going for a walk to take my mind off it later on today. 520pm -a lovely long walk with the dogs on the River Plym throwing stick

Blimey 3 weeks!

Day 21 Still no smoking. Yet ironically feeling ruddy awful- certainly Thursday and yesterday. Developing a nasty cough- a good sign that the chest is clearing slowly. Having a quiet weekend at home- spring cleaning now. Smelt the bedroom curtains this morning- yuk they are coming down for a wash today. Now all I have to do is get Darren to paint the whole house. But he can do that next weekend!!

A door closes

Last night during a fab party at our pub, both Darren and myself made a big decision. We decided to close the pub down. It was a wedding present from our partnership in the summer. We have broken even- but the rent and cost of stock have hit hard. The smoking ban has hit harder. Since 1st July the 3 pubs in the area around us have closed, as they didn't have the courtyard like us. But with 2 weeks to Christmas, even the amount of customers have dropped below the "normal" level. Hence at 11pm tal

The Phil and Looby Show (day 2)

No smoking day 2. Fine so far- actually really good. Monday in the Parking Unit is not a good day- phone goes none stop. The only blip I had was at 2.15 this afternoon with a "idiot" - I use the word for little eyes (get my meaning ) who wanted a permit for parking after getting a penalty charge notice. He had a go at me. BIGGGGG mistake. Mood turned blacker than the sky from a supercell from France. This was the conversation. "You want a beat message" -Me "Yeah- I can't get to your offic

New Year

Well this is it, my last blog of 2007. Its been an awful year in parts and even with the civil partnership in July, 2007 is not a year I'll look back on with fondness. But it's New years eve, a nice bottle of Merlot (8.99 a bottle- gulp I'm more a bottle of house red at 2.99) and a bottle of shampoo for midnight. Yup, we can't even face a night out. So home, Graham Norton, Harry Hill, Nick Knowles ( ) and my husband ( ) 2008 - it's going to be great. I get that feeling!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR

Early start= Early Finish

Started work at 640am- finished at 315pm. Lovely. Home to avoid all the works christmas parties. We cancelled our at work. No interest. Boring lot. I'm going out next weekend. On my own. No nasty work colleagues to deal with!!

Should you giggle at a funeral?

Sadly a great friend of ours lost his Aunt last week, and we went to her funeral this afternoon. Kath was 91. It was all fairly somber, and both Darren and myself cried during the early part of the service. Then came the last hymn after the committal at the crem. The song was "All things bright and beautiful". Now I know all the words to this classic hymn, having had to sing it every morning at primary school, and as the hymn started, it looked like Darren did too. So I put the hymn book down.

Little break and day 17

Just come back off a little break in our new caravan. Been staying in Okehampton- lovely little site. Back to work tomorrow. Not looking forward to it - we had Job Evaluation results last Friday. I was lucky, my team not (they lost £4000 each). God knows what I'm going back to. Good news - still not smoking. New job perhaps????????

Day 8

I have been to the Doc's. No, still not smoking, but went for a training run yesterday for a 10k I've signed up for. And tore my hamstring behind by left knee . Doc thinks I'll be fine, just hope that it heals before 4th May.

The New Traffic Management Act

The world of Parking is changing. Currently Plymouth City Council works under the Road Traffic Act 1991- with Parking Attendants and Penalty Charge Notices. However from 31 March, it all changes with the Traffic Management Act 2004 coming in and all the legal wording changes. By the way, we have no option but to do this- its under orders of central government that we must do this. So everything has to be changed- all paperwork, rules, regulations have to be relearnt and rewritten. Parking Att

First Entry About Me

Right here goes. I've been reading Net Weather for some time now, and only came across the Blogs last week, what a great idea, I thought, I'll start one. So who am I, and where, what etc. Well my screen name says it all, I'm Phil and I live in Glossop in North Derbyshire. Actually I live in Dinting which is 2 miles from Glossop, but who's spliting hairs! I live with my partner Daz, who's I've been with for some 4 years now, and we have two dogs, Will and Tasmin. Oh and 3 cats. I'm orginally

Painting

Today I am painting the lounge. I've had enough of creams and magnolia (boring!!!) and have plumped for a colour called Woodland Glade from Focus. Its a lovely classic green and will look lovely with the green sofa. Plus because Focus is closing in Plymouth I got the paint at a lovely cheap price, although I did feel a tad guilty about the people losing their jobs right on Christmas. And then when I've finished- the Christmas Decs can go up.

Depression

I have been dianogised with Depression and Anxiety- and finally I've recognised that I need help. It all came to a head on Saturday night, when I did somethings which I deeply regretted. I won't go into details, only my close friends have never been so worried about me and told me straight on Sunday/Monday to go off sick. My Doctor has been fantastic and has told me that I will in this for the long haul and he has given me a tablet called Citalopram. The ironic thing which I couldn't get is that

4 Days to Go

Well my last true day of work before the do. Usual stuff, clearing stuff up- writing letter to customers that I should have done months ago (Sorry Relate group in Plymouth)- sorting out Boats and Moorings stuff - (hey if you park a car you must park at boat as well- hence my new additional job title to Senior Parking Officer - Assistant Harbourmaster! ) and then.... at 445 just I was getting ready to go, the whole unit came into my section with an enormous bag of presents. I couldn't belie

Civil Partnership Plans (28days to go)

Darren and I get "Civil Partnershiped" 4 weeks today. Frankly we need a wedding planner. Or a Civil Partnership planner. You name it, it's gone wrong lately. The wedding party was to be held at our best mates pub. He took it over last September. Then 5 weeks ago this happened..... See below. Yup the glass washer set the whole pub up in flames. We've spent hours trying to sort things out- washing cleaning, but the insurance company have finally decided to rebuild. Luckily the fire crew got Dav

I can no longer drink like I did 10 yrs ago (as my headache proves today) I have new lava lamp from boyfriend I have new Deal or No Deal DVD from boyfriend I cannot beat Noel Edmonds at said game My boyfriend left all the price tags on both presents and birthday card I wish I had not drunk so much beer and whiskey last night. I wish I was 21 again.

Plymouth 1/2 Marathon

I have signed up to do the Plymouth half marathon. I currently have problems running for a bus- let alone running 13 1/4 miles. Including hills. I have 18 weeks to prepare. I need my head looking at. A friend asked me last night- how long to you think it will take you. My honest answer is hopefully under 6 days. and smoking will have to go..... Therefore this blog will become my training blog from tomorrow.

Daddy's Little Helper.

I had to bring some work home tonight, well actually it's 3 months filing. Tasmin (my little 18 month old little staffy cross) decides to help Daddy and promptly shreads August's records.......... The fact that it's all letters of complaint is quite funny, and she's still chewing on letters as I type this somehow makes it even better. My boss will be happy tomorrow when I explain this in the monthly meeting. Could be P45 time!
