It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year...

Well after going cold turkey back in March I managed to resist the lures of Net-Weather and the associated procrastination, day dreaming of snow and the other general behaviours that go with Net-Weather addiction for some 8 months. Woohoo! Except that I thought I would drop by earlier and noticed that many of the same familiar folk still hang around here I was especially pleased to see a certain OON still pedalling his individual brand of dry wit and cynicism (and no doubt still total hatred of smilies ) I think I may pull up a chair and stay a while... Oh damn it, here we go again! Having a quick look around it's as if I never left. The site has continued to grow and contatulations have to go to Paul and all of the team. Well, back to the title, it's almost "the most wonderful time of the year" again. No, not Christmas, full blown ramp fever. I, for one, cannot wait

Moderator To User Ratio

I've noticed that since the last cold snap has passed, the ratio of mods to plebs is reaching worrying levels . It's amazing how the forum can be buzzing with 400 people one week then barely have 25 users the next. It's odd how we float around in life, caught up in something exciting for while, then drift off to something else. It's been a bleedin boring week so far. I've been trying to get the accounts back up to date - I hadn't touched them since January. Also had to work for the past two nights too. Now I've got a night off, I'm scratching round wondering what to do with it!Hopefully it won't be long now before the long summer nights come around and I can think of doing something constructive, like walking the dog or tinkering with the car (not that I'll probably do either but the intention is there...). Before that, though, "they" have to steal that hour from us when the clocks go forward. Damn farmers...Good news for fellow Goon Roo too - it made me smile becuase I remember from reading her blog that she had given up smoking. Being a man (and lets face it us chaps rarely have any idea what's going on) I immediately though that she was probably pregnant. It's funny how often that little rule has held true.Oh well, I suppose I should go find something useful to do...

Bleedin Lane Discipline

Today got off on the wrong foot. Why oh why do people insist in sitting in the outside lane of a motorway or dual carriageway doing 5mph while there is absolutely nothing in the inside lane? I can't think of many things more infuriating I much prefer the American way where you can overtake in any lane. When I mention this, most people seem to think it's much more dangerous. It's not though, it's actually safer. People have to have much better spacial awareness, they need to keep a better watch on all their mirrors. With this greater awareness, it's actually safer. It's also safer because people don't get het up by some dolt sat in the outside lane blissfully unaware of the chaos behind them.Whilst I wasn't spitting feathers, I wasn't in the best frame of mind this morning. It's been a pretty nice week, I haven't had to work in the evenings too much (just twice). I'd be lying if I didn't say I hate working in the evenings after a day at work, but it has to be done! Next week is looking ominous with Monday and Tuesday allready filled. Oh Well...Here's one for any rally fans. Go to www.ketomaa.com and click on Kuvagalleria. Jari Ketomaa is a very talented driver and has some very nice in car film from some of his stages. I've downloaded a few over my sparkly new 2MB cable broadband and saved it to the "TV" PC. The "TV" PC is a machine I built based around Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition. I may go into more detail at a later date, but it's a DIY TIVO with a few more bells and whistles. The net result is that I'm slowly building up a database of Video On Demand film clips.

A Humble Start

Well, I though I would get off my posterior and give some dosh to the kind folks at net-weather, it's the least I can do for filling up their servers with irrelevant gibberish for the last couple of months. You won't find anything too juicy, incase I make myself identifyable to any of my customers or worse still colleagues (yeah, like giving away the car you drive when it's rare isn't stupid enough already!).Well, about me. I'm 26, young I suppose, though I feel old to be honest! I work with computers and what I do is probably totally boring to most people, I mean it is to me a lot of the time too. I've always had a knack with them. I've had no formal training to speak of, I prefer to learn by experimentation. I left school at 16 and did two A-Levels in maths and physics at night school whilst working (I had hoped to get sponsorship to become a pilot but that soon became clear it was never going to happen - too many fish in the sea). I now have a senior IT position in a company and am also a director in "my" company (though, it's not all mine!). I have to juggle both jobs at the same time, though the "other" company is pretty understanding, which is handy. My main interests other than computers are aviation (a passing interest now sadly), motorsport - particularly rallying (if I wasn't so in debt I would be rallying), cars in general and snooker (although I still play like a dunce despite playing every week for 10+ years - had a 56 break once though, or was it 54. I dunno). Errr and other stuff too. I suppose I should add looking out for a nice wifey is a hobby I've never been totally fascinated by the weather, it's a general interest. I like to know a little about everything and I never realised just how complicated the weather is.I think that's enough for now, I could go on for hours but that would just be plain greedy
