House...

Well I haven't written for a bit so I thought I had better....Moved in just over a week ago, and all went really smoothly which was odd...keep expecting something to go wrong, but it hasn't...it's making me very jumpy!!! :o Have finished most of the decorating (have only got the upstairs hall to do and mini-roo's room) but as both will comprise a lick of paint and a small tidy up, it shouldn't take us more than a day or so. Have to get a couple of bits of furniture too, but that shouldn't be to

Moving....

Well today we have Marion and Peggy, the whirling dervishes of removals packing, putting the contents of our flats into boxes ready for tomorrow (decided to treat ourselves to the full monty of packing and removal....couldn't face doing it ourselves)....They're really lovely ladies, who are working so very, very hard: I'm really impressed!Anyways, for the last weeks we've been stripping, painting sanding and gardening and the house actually looks damn good, even if I say so myself....The carpets

We Have A House!

Yippee!!!! The house finally went through yesterday and we went round yesterday lunchtime to have a recky, and it is even better than we remembered Needs a lick or two of paint in a coupld of the rooms, just to brighten things up, but apart from that, it's great.....It's a Victorian terrace which has loads of original features like cast iron fireplaces, stripped antique pine doors, stripped built in cupboards, quarry tile floor in the kitchen, and a lovely cosy garden which even has it's own p

Sunny Scotland...

Well, I'm back! And what a lovely time we had....10 days of sun and relaxation at my parents lovely home in SW Scotland. They live in a converted school on top of a hill (nearest neighbour 1 mile) and have an acre of land, a big barn, a bothy (workshop) and have lots of lovely walks and views all round their house.... it's heaven! We had a great few days: the weather was marvellous with only one day of rain, but the rest sunny and hot. We managed to get out and about lots, paddling in the sea,

Arrrgghhhh...lots To Do!

Well, the last few days have been pretty hectic. After my scan, the solicitor phoned and said that if we wanted we could exchange monday, so yesterday we duly drew out our life's savings....sob! and headed off to sign the papers, etc.....Since then we haven't stopped signing, phoning, writing, etc to all kinds of things. And the reason for this frantic activity? Well, it suddenly dawned on us that if we got a lot of the work done, we could vanish up to Scotland for ten days before we complete.

Mini-roo Hides Again.....

Well I went for my third scan this morning....and it was great!!!Lovely woman, very reassuring and friendly, went through everything she was doing and was just generally a complete contrast to the old bag I saw last time (who, incidentally was also working today, and I could hear her having a go at someone else about something, horrible old cow that she is.....).Anyways, mini-roo did his/her usual trick of hiding deep down (apparently he loves curling up tight as a ball each time they try to sca

What A Day....

Well, it looks as if London has been targeted again.....terrible news! Will it never end?But for me personally today has been a better day. Went to see midwife who gave me a check over and all has been pronounced to be going well...blood pressure is low, no sugars or protein where they shouldn't be :o and mini-roo's heart beat is pumping away....Mentioned to her about the nasty sonographer and her words were 'oooooo well next time you just don't pay attention to the nasty woman....WE will deci

Back At Work....

Well today I finally managed to get back to the office (have been keeping out of London for a bit as I can't walk too far and didn't want to get stuck in a hoax scare!)....It was very strange coming in this morning...took my usual train, then the number 30 (everyone being very friendly and nice: a lot of people even thanked the driver when they got off) past King's Cross and the huge pile of flowers, flags and messages and then walked the last little bit to work off Euston Road and down Tavisto

Grrrrrrrrrrr.....

Well today I had my scan in honour of mini-roo's 23rd week.....and what a pooey experience it was!I should say here and now that mini-roo is 100% OK and that all is well and everything has been accounted for. No, my probglem was with the grumpy old cow of a scanning person who made the whole thing damn unpleasant.....She gets me in there, and as mini-roo has a penchant for lying really low and fast asleep at the bottom of the womb, she tips me right back to try and get him out. Now mini-roo does

Kicking....

Well it's official: mini-roo has discovered the joys of giving me hefty kicks! Had felt movements for a little bit, but over the last 48 hours the little so and so has discovered the art of giving me a big clout in the bladder! It's very odd and is happening almost every hour. I also think they are lying with their feet on my left as the biggy kicks are always on my left whereas there are little, what I assume to be punches, on my right side....Such a very weird feeling...was convinced it must b

Horrible Day...

well today will go down as yet another example of terrorism in London...Today both myself and mr Roo were at home (thank goodness) but yet again, it's been a case of had it been monday, had it been last week, etc, etc....The bomb on the bus went off 50 yards from my office and have been trying to get through to friends and colleagues all day.....luckily everyone at the Institute has been accounted for. The foyer of the building is being used to treat minor casualties, and UCL are rapidly trying

Books, Books And More Books.....

well today is all about books....hundreds , nay thousands, of the darn things.....80 boxes to be precise...that we have to move when we get the new house! Arrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhh! Now, both me and Mr Roo, being reader-ish types have amassed a huge collection over the years (not counting the ones still at my mum and dad's which I know the minute we get a house, my dad will appear with in a van! :o )....We have spent the last week or so going through the shelves trying to work out if there is anyt

Housey, Housey....

wellll in the world of Roo life is being remarkably straightforward at the moment...something just HAS to go wrong...The house is going through very quickly....pot luck solicitor is great, surveyor has been wonderful and the house has no faults not consistent with a victorian property....oh and the mortgage offer has come through! It's all going just tooooo well.....On the downside, had a phone call from work today to say my office has been broken into! Our department is getting burgled on avera

'nother Long Time...

...since I had a ramble on, so I thought you were all about due for another one! No, please come back, don't go! So what has been happening in Roo world? Well.....there is the house fiasco, which is still ongoing (but I have a bit of flu, which is making me less anxious than I might have been...I must be nuts though? Considering moving whilst pregnant...not good!)Talking of pregnancies, all is going well....bump is getting bigger and mini-roo is making it's presence felt (even Andrew co

G8.....

Well...I'm having a 'hurumph' day! Am utterly sick of hearing Bob 'self promotion' Geldof banging on about what we can all do to save the world...Grrrr!!! It's all so two faced...where is Mr Geldof with his four or five huge companies...don't see him reigning in too much do you? And I have to feel sorry for the hundreds of Make Poverty History Organisations who have been hijacked by Geldof and his lunacy....The message was being got across slowly but surely, but now it's all about whether the Sp

Mini-roo.....

Hehehehehehe! Had my scan today! Wow! I am so amazed..... :o Mini-Roo didn't want to play ball at first and spent the first five minutes fast asleep in a tight ball, before being prodded awake by the scanning lady!He (suddenly I want to call it he? Hmmmmmmmm) then proceeded to give a big stretch and splayed all it's little fingers and toes.....LOVELY!!! Anyways, two legs two arms and a strong heartbeat, so all is as good as can be expected..... It was such an amazing experience, I

Nice Day...

well last night and today I felt mini-roo move for the first definite time.....just the slightest flutter, but definitely a movement: went on for quite a bit too, I think I jiggled him/her up a bit whilst I was making the bed last night...Had been wondering whether I'd felt it before, but this time was for sure...even Mr Roo could feel it too....It's very exciting... :DAm maybe off to watch a re-enactment of the Battle of St. Albans today (depends if it rains or not) but that should be fun too,

Lovely...

What a wonderful weekend that was....well, what a wonderful weekend yesterday was!Went for an afternoon out to Dunstable Downs...weather was scorching. The great thing about the downs is that there's a gliding school at the foot of the hill, so you can get an icecream, and settle yourself down and watch gliders all afternoon....Really therapeutic to see these huge metal beasts gliding noiselessly across the sky...excellent! It's alo odd to watch them be winched up into the sky (or towed by plane

Very Long Time...

well, it's absolutely ages since I last wrote this, so I thought I'd better do a bit of catching up....so what has happened? Well, I had my first midwife's visit, which went very well (lovely woman...great fun, and not at all patronising!), had parents down for a visit (lovely to see them), did lots more work for the archaeology lot I work for, did some stuff for Andrew and the web site, didn't find a house to live in (oh well!),.....oooooo and we got a car! It's very old (11 years) and belonged

Long Time....

well, it's a long time since I have written anything, so I guess I'd better get on with it!Today has been a lovely day....had a long chat with my local MP (what a nice man he is! ) about life the universe and labour, and he has put my mind well and truly at rest. Also, I appear to have lost the afternoon sickness for the moment at least...still don't feel absolutely 100% right, but am actually managing to eat a bit more without wanting to up chuck straight after!!!I even managed to have a choco

Food.....

well...for the last few days, I have actually got my appetite back, so fingers crossed and here's hoping that I'm through the worst of the morning-afternoon sickness....was timed perfectly to coincide with my bestest friend taking me out for lunch to celebrate my birthday last week and the sproglet.Went to Momo, which is behind Regent Street, and it was absolutely gorgeous...for those of you that don't know, it's an extremely celeb-famous Moroccan restaurant, but what I love about it, is that ne

Lovely Day.....

Well, we hired a car this weekend to go and check out some houses....saw 6 and all were wrong for one reason or another! But, as we had the car, we decided to treat ourselves to a day out in the country and went to the RSPB reserve at Sandy.....What a lovely place....beautiful gardens, a long walk thjrough heathland, woods and across an abandoned quarry (big sandstone cliffs with what appeared to be sand marten holes....will haev to go back there to have a look later in the year!).Saw a greater s

Life...

Been a bit of time since I last wrote anything, so thought I'd better have a go...Well, being preggers is becoming even more strange....have now added occasional hot flushes to the repertoire, along with joint ache and the occasional stitch in my side....still finding it tricky to sleep at night, although sleeping in the day is dead easy (and because I don't sleep at night, I'm desperately trying not to sleep during the day, so I just end up being tired 24/7....)Went to see mortgage peeps today.
