Getting Old

I was fine until about 10 minutes ago about turning 30 soon. I have, rather smugly the past few years thought I was aging rather well (considering I get asked ID when buying alcohol in Sainsburys!) but today, I noticed not the odd 1 or 2 grey hairs that I rip out with relish.... oh no. If I ripped out all the grey hairs I noticed this afternoon, I would end up with half a head of hair left. Reality is quite litterally setting in I really, really dont want to wave goodbye to my 20s!

Mouth Ulcers

I have a terrible habit (worse when I am worrying about something) where I pick and bite the skin off my lip and inside my cheek (very attractive!)Anyway, the other night (tuesday, I think) I was biting away, and managed to remove half of the skin in my mouth, and now I have what can only be described as a yellow/white ulcer looking thing, around 1cm in diameter. Its grating against my teeth and painful when I talk and eat. I have tried using Bonjella, but that just gets wiped off within minut

Diet Or Not To Diet?

Well, I am over weight, by about 1 stone (or just over if I am totally honest!) and have put on nearly 2 stone since my wedding last year (although I did have to 'seriously' diet to fit into the wedding dress I chose!) Ideally, I would like to loose just over 1 stone - making me a comfortable size 12-14, rather than a rather tight (and deluded) size 14 (hey, some clothes stretch as you put on weight!)I know size/stones aren't the be all and end all - if I was happy at the size and weight I am

Bomb Attacks

I know it might be seen by some as an over-reaction following the 7/7 attacks, and the attempted attacks on London last week, but well - this is what blogs are for - rather than start a thread, I thought it might be best to put how I am feeling in my blog. Basically, since the 7/7 attacks, and the potential bomb attacks thursday last week, that thankfully 'went wrong' I am finding it increasingly difficult to travel on the train to and from work of a day. I could 'recover' from the shock of 7

Strange People...

Why do I attract such strange people? (actually - no - don't answer that!)I went round my mum and dads straight from work yesterday, which involves me having to get a bus from the train station. Anyway, I got on the bus, and some bloke sits next to me with a large bag, he then rests his arm and hand on my thigh and covers this action with his bag! Now, being a girl who doesn't like to make a fuss, I sat, rather shocked on the bus wondering what I could do without making a scene! I just sat the

Ummm

Well, its been an age since I last updated my blog. Well since Easter. Which feels like ages ago. Anyway, im waffling. Waffle, waffle. Not a lot really been happening. I was on the possible redundancy list with the NHS recently, which was a worrying time. However, during my interview, personality questionaire (with 230 questions -why? I was applying for a job I have done for the past 9 years) and a 2 hour test, they finally concluded I am capable of doing the job I currently do. Thanks f

Upset

I had some sad news today. My Great Uncle passed away this morning.I guess it was to be expected as he had been ill for 5 weeks. He collasped at his home, and it turned out is auorta had burst. He was rushed to his local hospital, then taken by ambulance to St Thomas' where he had heart surgery. They fixed it the best they could and he spent 4 weeks in ITU. He was moved back to his local hospital last week. Its still a shock when the phone call comes to tell you and my Grandad has taken th

The Week So Far

Oh dear, I am in the mood for chatting. Although don't worry, I have had the hypnotherapy to rid me of waffling. The week so far........ Sunday, I was nice and relaxed after being off sick from work (now fully recovered) for 2 weeks. First day back was the following day. Panic set in. I was due to take annual leave from Tuesday onwards to spend some lovely quality with with Em as its half term. Oh dear. 1 day to catch up with 2 weeks worth of work, and handing over 4 days work.... So, th

Feeling Down

I'm having one of my very rare 'feeling down' moments. No good asking me why, as I cant answer that question! I wouldnt go as far as to say I feel depressed, as having been genuinely depressed, I know I can snap myself out of this current 'down' mood. However, I just felt the need to write down (or say out loud!) how I feel. (get the violins out!) I will snap out of it - I have been here before. However, I dunno - I just felt the need to write down how I feel - and now you lucky peop

Dance Classes

Emily (aka Mini Raven) loves dancing, and spends her time (when the Bratz dolls havent been removed due to bad behaviour) dancing to music on the radio, or when watching The Hits. I couldnt help but notice just how quickly she picked up the dance moves to the likes of The p*ssy Cat dolls (or is that dollz - im a parent, and unfashionable - and for those over 87, thats p*ssy as in cat, not..... well....) Anyway, she has lots of spare energy, so thought it best to channel the extra energy doing

Conjunctivitus (oh Dear)

I have no doubt spelt the medical terminology incorrectly (along with half the words in this blog) Anyway, you know what I mean. (oh dear, starting this blog with a waffle - not a good sign) Anyway, Emily (the lovely mini me) has caught conjuntivitus (sp) We noticed a slightly red eye on Sunday, so I initially treated it with warm water and cotton wall balls, and it did clear up. Until today. Mr Raven received a phonecall from school informing him that Em is unable to attend school until th

Dear Father Christmas.....

Barbie Pritey Shos (pretty shoes) Poly Pokit (Polly Pocket.... arghh, more mini shoes embedding themselves in my foot, making its way slowly towards my heart, no doubt the day before I retire) X-Box (yeah, in your dreams love!) Gutted

For anyone interested in my ramblings via my blog, I am gutted to report that Grandad passed away at 4.10am this morning. I have mixed emotions - am relieved he is no longer suffering, but am gutted his big personality is no longer part of our lives. He really will be missed - even the bloody doctors receptionist (and we all know what dragons they can be!) was choked up when dad called them this afternoon to let them know. Words really cannot describe how I feel right now.

Looking forward to retirement

Its no secret I am looking forward to retirement. And being bored at work (hence looking forward to retirement) I decided to calculate how long I have until I retire. Little did I know by the time I am at state retirement age, I will be nearly 68! And knowing my luck, on the 5th July 2045, they will no doubt raise the age to 75! Argghhhh!! Amazing News!

I didn't want to say anything any earlier because I was waiting to make sure everything was going according to plan but as it's getting closer and closer to 'that date' I thought I'd better spill the beans - guess who's due in just under 4 months..............................??!! Photo attached.

Bugger!

Since my last blog entry, where everything was perfect (I knew I shouldn't have stopped worrying about everything!), we received some worrying news. My Granddad has been diagnosed with tumours on his Liver and lower spine. Doctors seem to think they can control the growths with Radiotherapy, although not sure if they can get rid of them all together. We should know more once he has had a liver biopsy and has spoken to his Radiotherapy Consultant. I am still positive at the moment that he w

I am just rubbish at that kind of thing - had to keep going back and adding more information. Not even sure if you will ever see what I am typing, as I have no doubt I'm doing this wrong as well!Errrm, well, thats about it really... just wanted to say hello to the land of Blogs!xx

Life

Life's a strange thing. At the moment, I am going through the most difficult moment so far in 29 years - something, having gone through half the stuff I have had to deal so far with - seems pretty trival. But atm, I am finding it hard to deal with the day to day things in life - you know, like getting out of bed. Life really can be sh*t. Its like this is the tip of a very big ice berg and I am not sure if I will actually get through it. God, what a depressing blog - but hey, thats how I fe

Greedy B*stards

This year is the first year we have had to book a holiday during school holidays. We are going to the Isle of Wight (my favourite haven in the world.... well, in the affordable world). Anyway. Last year, we went in June for 1 week, and it cost (board and ferry ride) £400 for all 3 of us. This year, its costing £700. The reason? We are limited to going in school holidays. An hour's ferry ride (no doubt packed to the rafters without a seat) is costing us £150 alone. Thats without the petrol

Conjunctivitus - Part 2

My turn this time <_< Been ill for weeks with a cold/chest infection/cough and general exhaustion and low and behold, I woke up this morning unable to prize my eyes open. My left eye took around 2 minutes to open, but my right eye, which has it really bad took a bit longer. Its all horrid, red and swollen - this morning it actually looked like I had been punched in my eye Still, I have started a course of eye drops that the lovely Mr Raven purchased for me in boots, and they cleared E

Parents Evening

Had Mini-R's first parent evening tonight. She has 2 teachers who do job share (Mrs O'Flynn Mon-Wed and Mrs Stewart Thurs/Fri) Mrs O'Flynn is the typical lovely Primary School teacher, but Mrs Stewart has the ability to scare me 16 years after leaving Primary School!Little'un is doing very well at school, and isn't causing any concern. They are really pleased with her progress. They said she is a very happy child, always happy and smilling.... obviously she must save her 'moments' for when sh

Scrooge - The Musical

Occasionally, there are perks to working for the NHS. The first (since I started working there in 1996) was watching 'The Tweenies - LIVE' earlier in the year for £2 per person at Docklands Arena. The 2nd perk in 9 years is watching the preview of 'Scrooge - The Musical' at the London Palladium on the evening of 31st October. £5 a ticket!! (usually £30-ish). So I purchased a ticket for myself and Mr R. (who it just so happens is his birthday on the 31st) So thats his birthday pressie sorted

Maps

Well, arrived back from Dymchurch unscathed (but a little sun burnt). We were, however, lucky to get there at any point today.Mr Raven, (the know it all that he is) knew the way to Dymchurch, so I thought, fair enough, he knows (as usual), I'll leave it to him.Well, I nodded off to sleep at Ashford, and awoke in Dover (of all places). The FOOL had driven on the wrong motoway. We needed to be on the A20/M20. He went on the A2/M2. We don't have an A-Z in the car because we don't need one (app
