Gutted

For anyone interested in my ramblings via my blog, I am gutted to report that Grandad passed away at 4.10am this morning. I have mixed emotions - am relieved he is no longer suffering, but am gutted his big personality is no longer part of our lives. He really will be missed - even the bloody doctors receptionist (and we all know what dragons they can be!) was choked up when dad called them this afternoon to let them know. Words really cannot describe how I feel right now.

Bugger!

Since my last blog entry, where everything was perfect (I knew I shouldn't have stopped worrying about everything!), we received some worrying news. My Granddad has been diagnosed with tumours on his Liver and lower spine. Doctors seem to think they can control the growths with Radiotherapy, although not sure if they can get rid of them all together. We should know more once he has had a liver biopsy and has spoken to his Radiotherapy Consultant. I am still positive at the moment that he w

Life...

Well, its been that long since an entry (why am I reading innuendo into that already....? Maybe I spend too much time in banter on Net Weather?!) that I had almost forgotten how to add a new one! Gosh, so much has happended since July, and all has been brilliant. After 2007 brought me to the lowest I have ever been, 2008, and indeed so far in 2009 has proved to be excellent. Long may it continue

My Blog

I've just had a little re-read of some of my blog entries this past year. My god, I do talk some waffly crap. Apologies to anyone who has wasted a small part of their lives reading it!

Looking forward to retirement

Its no secret I am looking forward to retirement. And being bored at work (hence looking forward to retirement) I decided to calculate how long I have until I retire. Little did I know by the time I am at state retirement age, I will be nearly 68! And knowing my luck, on the 5th July 2045, they will no doubt raise the age to 75! Argghhhh!! Info from: http://nww.pensionsagency.nhs.uk Your State Pension age You will reach State

Thames River party cruise thingy

Blimey, its been a while since I wrote anything remotely interesting in my blog (there are quite a few who would say I have never wrote anything remotely interesting in my blog) anyway.... Last weekend, myself and Mr Raven went on a River cruise party thing with his work. Had a brilliant time and didnt get home till 4am, something I havent done since..... well, 17th May 2008. Here are some pictures of London during sun set...

Snow - and pics of mini raven and mummy raven

Well, finally spring has sprung - along with snow that settled (well, a decent settle, unlike 2 weeks ago!) Anyway, here are some pics - and a few pics of mini-raven 'catalogue posing' which did make me smile. Hopefully the pictures should be in this order... 1&2 Mini Raven striking a pose 3 - Mini Raven in the snow. The 'Alan Carr' tooth look is because the tooth is loose - honest! 4 - Mini Raven throwing a snowball at me  I enjoyed playing in the snow really - as picture 5

Chislehurst Caves

It has been half term for kids in Bexley this week, so we decided to take Mini-Raven to Chislehurst Caves, which is only a few miles from where we live. Anyway, after getting lost, and it taking the equivalent time wise of driving to the Coast for the day, we arrived at the Caves. Everything was fine until half way through the tour she announced she was scared and she was going to be sick (this was followed by a few unconvincing heaves and coughs). Unfortunatly it was too late to go back (and th

Flat tyers

First off, I'm not talking about the tyres of flab I have around my stomach. They will slowly be disapearing thanks to Rosemary Conely's diet and my sister's wedding in August 2008 as will power to loose them. I had my first flat tyre Saturday night. I was in the car alone, and for the first time ever, left the house without my mobile phone - about the only time in 8 years I have genuinely needed the blasted thing . Anyway, I guessed I had a flat tyre when I was around 4 miles from home. Well,

Mini-me's Christmas carol for the deaf

This is mini-me's version of sign language. I *think* some of the song is the correct version of sign language, but not sure about the rest of the performance. Your'll notice the E numbers she consumed earlier in the day take effect at approx 1.28 minutes into the video. Unfortunatly, the poor thing looked like I did at 6 - and even worse, sings like I did too.

Dear Father Christmas.....

My name is Emily, and I am 6. I would like for Christmas (I have included the spelling mistakes, with corrections!) Barbie Pritey Shos (pretty shoes) Poly Pokit (Polly Pocket.... arghh, more mini shoes embedding themselves in my foot, making its way slowly towards my heart, no doubt the day before I retire) X-Box (yeah, in your dreams love!) Getting Old

I was fine until about 10 minutes ago about turning 30 soon. I have, rather smugly the past few years thought I was aging rather well (considering I get asked ID when buying alcohol in Sainsburys!) but today, I noticed not the odd 1 or 2 grey hairs that I rip out with relish.... oh no. If I ripped out all the grey hairs I noticed this afternoon, I would end up with half a head of hair left. Reality is quite litterally setting in I really, really dont want to wave goodbye to my 20s!

Supermarket shopping

While doing my rather tedious weekly shop in Sainsburys this morning (I will get to grips with on-line shopping one day, I'm sure) I made a few observations. 1) Why do long lost friends discover each other while out shopping and block aisles for 15 minutes catching up with the past 36 years? 2) Why doesnt the person in front no longer pocess the common courtesy of putting that thingy bobby between their shopping and my shopping on the till conveyor belt? 3) Why, when the cashier a

Huzzah!

Well, after numerous cancellations (sp), and general NHS co ck ups*, Granddad finally had his op today to remove the tumour in his bowel. So far, its successful, and he should be out of ICU on thursday. *missing notes, cancelled operations, missing blood tests, incorrect information - but hey, the service is free! (minus the £200000 (slight exageration?) he has paid over the years with tax and national insurance) The one staggering thing I have learnt today though is, there are 6 ICU beds in th

Amazing News!

I didn't want to say anything any earlier because I was waiting to make sure everything was going according to plan but as it's getting closer and closer to 'that date' I thought I'd better spill the beans - guess who's due in just under 4 months..............................??!! Photo attached.

My Blog

Having read through my last few blogs, I am amazed by how miserable they are - so sorry for anyone feeling suicidal reading them. I have had a bit of a tough year so far, but the majority of crap has been my own doing; and strangely enough, I dont regret anything. (although I feel the anti depressants and counselling sessions may have something to do with that statement ) Seriously, I have lived my life for me, and if thats a selfish, nasty thing, then so be it. Life is for living, and thats

Ben (or dopey chops)

Ben, one of the family dogs was knocked down and killed by a car yesterday. He was such a happy, trusting soul, bless him. The only comfort we can get is that it was instant, and he didnt suffer. He escaped by a complete accident, and was making his way to the field opposite mum and dads house. He was missing only for a few minutes as his coat was still dry when Dad found him in the middle of the road, even though it was raining lightly. We are, naturally cut up by the premature death, but h

A good day (for once)

Had some good news today. Some of you may know about my Granddad being diagnosed with bowel cancer. He had an MRI scan last week to see if it had spread. Its good news because it can be treated and hasnt spread. The results came though today to say that it hasnt spread, but the tumour he has is an aggressive form. He's 82, has heart problems and diabetes, but an operation to remove the tumour seems to be the sensible option. Granddad asked what the outlook would be if he didnt have the op,

Foot wear and driving. Oh, and teeth.

I know I can drive* a car wearing high heels and platform shoes**. Tonight, however, I found out I can't drive wearing flip flops. Its nothing to do with being cut short height wise by 3.75", but more to do with the fact that flip flops rendered my feet useless. The soles of my feet may as well have been injected with anesthetic. I drove home in bare feet. As for teeth, mini raven has her first wobbly tooth, and boy, dont we know about it. Its currently hanging on by a thread, being wobbled

Helen Daniels, eat your heart out.

Thats Helen Daniels from Neighbours... 1985 till.. well... 1998? Neighbours, as in Jim Robinson and errr, who was in it when I last watched it? Harold Bishop? Anyway, the whole point of this totally pointless blog is to say good neighbours really do exist. (not only in Ramsay Street, Melbourne, Australia). I came home tonight after work and the weekly food shop in Sainsburys to find that my neighbour had mowed my lawn for me. Ok, ok, my grass was over grown.... but I met my new neighbour saturda
