It's hard to believe but over a year has passed since my first stormchase with Netweather.
In 2012 I joined tour 2 out of Dallas/Ft Worth, and although just 1 tornado we had storms most days with some amazing structure including a mothership supercell over Roswell of all places and this late afternoon stunner over the farmland of Oklahoma.
In 2013 I'm joining tour 5 out of Denver destined for the northern plains of Colorado, Nebraska and the Dakotas. It promises to be an amazi

A small update from my original summer forecast back in May,

First onto August and September the CFS seems confident on average temperatures for the rest of the summer. As for rainfall, August average with some Western area's seeing below average rainfall as we move into September things change around with most of the UK seeing very wet weather to end the summer.[

Lowest readings +1c for Coventry on Wednesday night and -1c here at Llanwnnen on Friday morning. Tuesday was very wet for SW Wales, 2 inches of rain fell at Llanwnnen while P

From Summer to Autumn it felt like last week, 23c here on Tuesday but then by Thursday it was max 11.8c. Strong winds with gales in places as well as rain on Thursday, it felt like a Winter's day in Carmarthenshire! Hail and thunder in places in the showers on Saturday. The coming week will be disappointing again for those hoping for a warm and dry spell, as the UK is s

A lovely dry and fairly sunny spell lasted until Thursday gone. We were in a cool air mass so although it felt pleasant in the strong sunshine, clear skies at night gave a run of late Spring frosts. Lowest readings include -2.9c here on Tuesday night, while Bablake, Coventry had it's lowest May reading since 1984 getting down to -0.5c,
1st May: May is one of the finest months of the year with warm Spring sunshine, quite long days, usually fairly dry but prone to thunderstorms and some unsettled weather. Usually the first proper tastes of summer weather arrive at this time of year but also the last of the chilly Spring days and cold nights and even some wintriness. Last year, the first two-thirds was very chilly for the time of year - with some snow - and there was some heavy rainfall too but towards the end of the month there
Headline: Mainly dry with sunny spells but rather cool with further frosts; unsettled to end the week
Another week has passed with only small amounts of rain, 12mm falling at Llanwnnen and just 5mm at Coventry in the past 7 days. Spring 2013 is turning out quite dry thus far. The Midlands turned warm with sunshine mid week, and we even managed the one mild day here in West Wales, as Tuesday reached 16.4c in my back garden. Big temperature contrasts on Thursday as a cold front slowly ed

Last week saw strong winds with some rain at times, but amounts of rain were generally small. April is shaping up to be a dry month for the Midlands, and with quite small amounts of rain likely in the coming week again here. It was quite warm for the Midlands to mid week, mild rather than warm for Wes
The 2013 World Championship is underway. I'm particularly intrigued as to how Ronnie O'Sullivan will fare after his sabbatical from the sport, but if anyone can come back "rusty" and put in a fine performance, it would have to be him.
I have the players as most likely to win the tournament as Neil Robertson, Mark Selby and Mark Allen. I think Judd Trump has been going into his shell a bit recently so he has slipped from my list of pre-tournament favourites.
In last year's blogs I commented
Headline: Rain at times, breezy, becoming dry late in the week; temperatures around average
Last week witnessed the passing of the Winter that refused to let go! Near average temperatures for the most part, although the Midlands only warmed slowly. We all have seen some rain of late, although it took until Thursday for measurable rain in my gauge to end the 18 day 'frosty drought' which had parched and dessicated the countryside locally.
A very wet night and Sunday morning for West
Alps Conditions
There was decent fresh snow over medium to higher slopes at the start of the past week, but much milder temps has brought rain to all but the very highest slopes, making snow conditions not fantastic, despite the abundance of snow still at some higher slopes.

I quite often read about how society is becoming broken due to the decline of traditional family values since the 1950s. I often read about how the 1950s were a golden era where people loved and cared for one another, families functioned as a strong unit and, since mothers generally stayed at home and raised children, children got more frequent parental care than they often do today.
For sake of balance, I refer readers to a couple of opinion pieces on the internet which paint the 1950s in a

As we move slowly towards the end of Winter 2012-13, I will continue to do blogs on the 5th, 12th and 19th of April, However they will be slightly shorter than previously and concentrate more on the specific Alps weather rather than the synoptic charts.

As we move into April, it is natural that we will see spring snow conditions especially over lower slope. Into the next week, and height is very much important, moderate rainfall is possible this week on lower slopes b

It was something that got many people talking about what December may hold for us. Some remained positive but for others they thought it wasn't good enough and cancelled winter before it had even properly started.

April 1st: After an amazing March which rounded-off and was the highlight of an interesting and consistent season for cold and snow, we now enter the month April and are now into April. However with the never-ending winter of 2012/2013 and a memorable March, the landscape is still stuck in winter with snow on the Campsies and some drifts remaining on the walls and the countryside and vedgetation remain in winter with litte growth. April is very much a Spring month and right at the middle of the

So ends the coldest March since at least 1962, and the coldest month of 'Winter'. This fact all the more remarkable as we had a fairly cold Winter, this the first time March has been colder than a colder than average Winter since 1786 for Central England! Here in West Wales there were only small amounts of snow through March, although some sleet or snow fell on 13 days. It ha
