A Real Soaking For Some

Heavy rain is affecting many parts today. By tomorrow it'll be just the southeast still getting wet - with the possibility of localised flooding here.

Heavy rain is the theme for the next 24-48 hours. Today anywhere could see a big downpour. Tomorrow the wet weather becomes limited to the southeast of the country.

The rainfall totals for the next 48 hours tell their own story. With the southeast corner, in particular, getting quite the drenching.

48 hour rainfall totals
It's a mix of thundery showers and persistent rain today. With the persistent wet weather affecting eastern and central England in particular. Southern Scotland could be a favoured spot to miss the majority of the showers, and even in the more showery regions, not all will see one.

Temperatures today will peak into the mid-high teens for most, East Anglia making it up in the low-twenties.

Temperatures today
A breezy, quite chill night follows with the wind blowing down from the north. Then, away from the southeast of Britain, tomorrow will start and continue with plenty of sunshine.

Rain still affecting the southeast on Wednesday
The rain in the southeast will continue for much of the day though, taking until the early hours of Thursday to finally clear away.

With the northerly breeze still blowing, nowhere will be especially warm tomorrow. But with maxes into the high-teens, it should be nice enough in the sunshine. Under the rain in the southeast though, it's going to feel pretty miserable.

After another cool night, Thursday will dawn with widespread sunshine. Cloud will thicken from the northwest through the day, with some rain perhaps reaching the far northwest of Scotland by evening. But for the majority, it'll stay dry, with long, warm sunny spells. Temperatures will peak in the high teens or low-twenties.

Temperatures Thursday
If you're hoping for the fine weather to last though, unfortunately, it's bad news. The cloud and rain moving into the far northwest will be heading southeast during Friday. With sunshine and showers following behind for the start of the weekend.
