Bude, Cornwall

Summerleaze Beach, Bude Bude in Cornwall is a favourite spot, beautiful sandy beaches, a nice town with plenty of places to eat and drink. Although the sea is great for bodyboarding or surfing, if you’re not a fan of the waves, it has a large sea-pool on Summerleaze beach, refreshed by the tide twice a day.

The forecast:
Saturday - A rather mixed but potentially warm and humid day. Temperatures will reach into the low 20s, maybe 24C and it will feel close and muggy. There will be a fair amount of cloud with a SW breeze and the risk of some heavy even thundery showers early on Saturday. These clear off northwards and the day brightens up with late sunshine and staying very warm.

Sunday - There will be just a few showers over Cornwall on Sunday morning as the breeze swings around to the SW. Mostly it will be bright and fine up to 18C, with any heavier afternoon showers lining up inland.

Monday – Cool and bright

Abersoch, Gwynedd

Abersoch beach Situated on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales, Abersoch beach is a lively spot. As well as lounging on the sand and swimming in the sea, you can windsurf, surf, and sail - with lessons available for beginners. Plus it has a campsite close by - perfect for a beach weekend.

The forecast:

Saturday -  A bit of a mixed day with some warmth, up to 20C but a blustery SE windy. Cloud will increase as a band of heavy; even thundery showers moves up through Gwynedd. This could bring heavy downpours for the middle section of Saturday but with some improvement later in the afternoon.

Sunday A quieter day with a fair amount of cloud. It will be breezy with a SW wind off the sea. Temperatures will only reach 18C, but not bad overall

Monday – Blustery and bright

Formby, Lancs

Formby Beach Formby is a National Trust beach and is a stunner. With huge sand dunes, walks in the pine forest, wildlife to see and of course a huge expanse of sand, it’s a favourite in the northwest of England.

The forecast:

Saturday - A band of heavy even thundery showers will move up through Lancashire during Saturday bringing some hefty downpours. There will be quite a blustery east wind but temperatures should reach 19C, and it’s worth being hopeful for some improvement and late sunshine into the evening.

Sunday - For the most part, it will be a fine day with sunny spells, a fair breeze from the SW but feeling quite close at 18. Small risk of a shower.

Monday – Blustery, bright and fresher.

Littlehampton, West Sussex

Littlehampton West Beach Littlehampton has two beaches. East Beach is mostly shingle, and has more of the facilities with lots of things to do and places to eat - including a funfair. Across the river, West Beach is quieter, with sand dunes, and a large sandy beach.

Saturday – the heat of the week will hold on for one more day. Saturday could reach 24c with quite a breeze off the sea. The day will start off quite cloudy and muggy but brighten up and heat up in the sunshine.

Sunday – it should be a fine, sunny day. A bit breezy off the sea and feeling fresher at 19C.

Monday – Fine, breezy and not as warm.

Joss Bay

Joss Bay A real favourite on the Thanet coast in Kent. A large sandy beach, a short distance outside the seaside town of Broadstairs. With a cafe, and shop, and just a short walk from the carpark it’s a terrific spot to enjoy a family day-out by the sea.  

The forecast:

Saturday - The heat will hold into the weekend. The day will start of quite cloudy and muggy but brighten up through the afternoon and hot up in the sunshine. Saturday could reach 24c later on with quite a breeze off the sea.

Sunday -  A lovely day with sunshine. It should stay dry and with a SW breeze it will feel pleasant at 21C.

Monday - Bright and breezy, not as warm.

Lowestoft, Suffolk

Lowestoft main beachOn the most easterly coast of the UK, Lowestoft is a traditional seaside town with plenty of attractions, and a selection of sandy beaches.

The forecast:

Saturday - Feeling quite humid even with a breeze off the sea. Temperatures should reach 19C in the bright spells. There maybe the odd shower at lunchtime but otherwise a fair day.

Sunday Feeling warmer in the sunshine and brisk SW wind. Temperatures should reach 22C on a fine and sunny Sunday.

Monday – Breezy and Bright.

Bamburgh, Northumberland

Bamburgh beach and castle With the iconic Bamburgh Castle looking over it, this glorious sandy beach should be on the to-do list of any beachgoer. As well as the beach, and sparkling North Sea, it’s a favourite surfing spot, is great for rock-pooling, and is home to the most northerly lighthouse in England.

The forecast

Saturday - A fair day but with a breeze off the see. Temperatures will reach 16C with sunny spells early on. There is the threat of heavy showers later in the day and overnight as a band moves up from the south.

Sunday after a cloudy start the day will brighten up nicely and in the sunshine and SW breeze, temperatures will reach 18C.

Monday – grey and breezy.

Portstewart, Northern Ireland

Portstewart Northern Ireland Another National Trust treasure, with 2 miles of sandy beach, dunes, wildlife, watersports, walks and great views facing north over the Atlantic.

The forecast

Saturday -  An okay morning with bright but cloudy skies. Temperatures will reach 17C before a band of hefty showers moves up from the south, bringing a more unsettled Saturday evening and night.

Sunday- A bit of a grey showery start but the day improves. Temperatures will only reach 16C with a southerly breeze, but it will be a fair day

Monday – Brightening up after early showers, cool.

Loch Morlich, Cairngorm National Park

Loch Morlich Just outside Aviemore and in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, it’s maybe one of the best-known beaches in Scotland. As well as the sand, and shimmering loch waters, there are water-sports to enjoy, with a cafe to keep you fed and watered.

The forecast

Saturday - After a cool start with sunny spells, cloud will increase through the day. It will stay bright and dry for a time with temperatures up to 16C but the threat of heavy and thundery showers arrives by the evening and overnight.

Sunday – the day could start with heavy showers still lingering from overnight. It will feel fresher although the winds will ease as temperatures only reach 14C.

Monday – Cool and windy but with early showers fading.
