The last of the mild air is pushed away early in the weekend as a cold front sinks south east across the UK, with showers and heavier rain at times as it goes, whether the rain will impact the London Marathon is still uncertain as the front looks like it may stall a little north of London, but that could change. One thing is certain, it will be much fresher than recently, which will probably help runners who won't have to contend with the heat.
We've had to break out the snow icons again for the northern hills and mountains at times during the week ahead, and Monday morning is looking cold and wintry, with a risk of snow over high ground for much of the northern half of the UK and Ireland. The frosty nights continue too, so if you have put any you plants out, you'll need to protect them through the next week.
Later in the week there is potential for very cold northerly gales sweeping down the east coast with more snow over the high ground of Scotland and northern England. But that's some way in the future and could change, so keep an eye out for updates.
