Easter part 3 Monday30th March 2015

Mostly settled, fine and warming up a bit

For the end of March, there isn't going to anything 'lamb' like overnight into Tuesday with gales, strong gusts and wintry showers tomorrow.

Later in the week, a band of rain will stagnate over N.Ireland,Wales and parts of England, separating mild air to the SW and cold air in the far NE. This wet weather should clear away during Good Friday. Then high pressure begins to build and there wil be a lot of settled, mostly dry weather about through the long weekend, but nothing exceptional with the temperatures. However, there are signs that the weekend does get gradually warmer, so a fair amount of decent, fair and not cold weather to be had.

The GFS has a cool, unsettled northerly flow for Good Friday with a widespread frost at night. The high then builds and daytime temperatures rise from 10C Sat, 12C Easter Sunday to 15/16C on Monday with only light winds. ECMWF models show a similar theme but perhaps a bit slower. So not losing the cool northerly until further into Saturday when the high starts to build and not warming up much.

So Good Friday still has rain lingering but that should fade. Feeling cool

Saturday, cloudy and cool with damp weather in the north but cloudy and drier elsewhere.

Easter Sunday and Monday - likely to be dry and bright, light winds, getting a bit warmer

Next update on Wednesday. Click here for the long weekend's weather where you are.
