1st October

The E.Pacific coast has been churning out storms, we've seen Hurricane Polo and hurricane Rachel and there are signs of another storm forming off the west coast of Mexico by Thursday. With only two months left for usual the Atlantic season, things have been rather quiet since hurricane Edouard fizzled out mid Atlantic.

Weds 17th Sept

Hurricane Edouard is well out at sea, and seems to have peaked for now as he is reaching waters of less than 26C and moving NE into an area of stronger vertical shear.

Impacts of Edouard are being felt on the east coast of Florida with areas near Jacksonville having a Rip Current warning out for today and Thursday -."AS SWELLS FROM EDOUARD ENTER THE COASTAL WATERS."

Edouard's forecast path heads towards the Azores. Generally the Azores in the mid Atlantic, with partly cloudy, light winds and temps in the 20s. have quite consistent forecasting, with time for pottering about on a boat in the afternoon. However the reason for being there, are occasional thunderstorms . (By then ) TS Edouard's potential arrival will be meteorological event of the year, or perhaps since Nadine in 2012.

To the Pacific

Western Mexico and Baja California continue to see heavy rain, swell and large waves from storm after storm this season. Hurricane Odile reached Cat 4 status on Sunday as she headed for the tourist area of Los Cabos. Now as TS Odile, she will be heading inland across the US border into New Mexico midweek, bringing heavy rain to SW US and NW Mexico. There are still warnings about large waves and coastal flooding from a storm surge in the Gulf of California. As Odile moves inland for the end of the week, the southern States will be prone to heavy rain and the risk of flash flooding. Furhter south off W.Mexioc is TS Polo, which will soon strengthen to hurricane status. This storm is forecast to stay west of the Baja peninsula and move out into the open waters of the Pacific. Before that there are still warnings for the swell and surf along the west coast.
