Warm September and Cristobal

Back to school next week for many and the weather changes. A steady high begins to build but can it ward off the remnants of Hurricane Cristobal?

Warm September and Cristobal

September starts next week, back to school for many and what does the weather look like doing =  improving. In Scotland, already back to school, on some nippy mornings the little ones could have gone to school in their tights and winter trousers, but the sunshine is still warm enough at this time of year for shorts. Looking ahead, southern parts should see some fair weather through the weekend, so there is a little bonus to end the 6 week holidays.

As next week starts, high pressure should build over the UK and will draw some warmer air from the South and then east off the continent. This will be dry and warmer, especially as we have been subjected to some chilly nights recently with a NW wind. Many of the forecast models show this high pressure with settled, warmer weather. The differences are in how close the remnants of Hurricane Cristobal get to NW Britain at the weekend. Currently, it seems to be heading towards Iceland but there still could be some wet and windy weather as it moves NE in the Atlantic, maybe N.Ireland and W.Scotland, southern parts look more settled.

So the first week of September looks fine, dry and warmer perhaps seeing mid-twenties Celsius in the south of England.
