14th TD eleven E is now Hurricane Karina and well out at sea in the E.Pacific

13th Aug - hurricane Julio is well north of Hawaii, there are signs of something developing well south as well. TD Eleven-E is off the West coast of Mexico heading out into the Pacific. No trouble to land but it will quickly become a hurricane.

7th August  Ex-hurricane Bertha is now off Newfoundland, extra tropical and heading towards the UK for Sunday.

Out in the Pacific we have seen storms forming well out at sea in the eastern waters nearer Mexico and trudged steadily out into the Central Pacific. They move from the National Hurricane Centre's responsibility to the Central Pacific centre, based in Honolulu. Hurricane Julio still in the east, weakening as he passes just north of the Hawaiian Islands this weekend. Hurricane Iselle is on track to hit the Big Island later Thursday (local time) and pass to the south of the smaller islands Hurricane winds are expected, large swells on east facing shores, huge surf, torrential rain with up to 12" possible over the higher ground and a storm surge bringing further flooding risks.
Further west in the central pacific is Genevieve, was Hurricane, now Super Typhoon. A monster of a storm who is steadily marching onwards and beginning to turn north and now is under the responsibility of RSMC Tokyo, although still mid ocean

5th August

TS Bertha is now East of the Bahamas and turning NE out into the Atlantic (its remnants will influence the UK weather by the weekend). Bertha now has sustained winds of around 70mph and is expected to strengthen to a Hurricane later today (monday). Her forecast path should miss Bermuda and is movign away from the US.

Well out in the E. Pacific is Hurricane Iselle and TS Julio, not troubling anyone (although there are warnings for mariners). In the W.Pacific, Typhoon Halong is taking a swerve northwards and will head to southern Japan by the end of the week

1st August

Bertha is expected to pass 60 miles north of Barbados on Friday afternoon (local time)

She is forecast to move across the central Leeward Islands Fri. evening, over Puerto Rico, the Turks & Caicos and then veer out into the Atlantic before reaching the US, possibly troubling Bermuda. Shear conditions are inhibiting Bertha from strengthening any more until she moves north of Dominican Republic. Max winds 50mph.

July 22nd

Tropical Depression Two TD2 doesn't seem to have much of a future, it is moving westwards towards the Lesser Antillies and is forecast to move north of Barbados. It will encounter dry air and increasing shear and so isn't expected to strengthen. Martinique, Guadalope and other Leeward Islands should expect heavy showers to end the week. Residents of the Lesser Antillies are being advised to monitor the progress of TD2 as a note of caution.

All quiet in the E.Pacific but in the western Pacific Typhoon Matmo is about to make landfall in eastern Taiwan.
Temperatures in Taiwan have been well into the 30s Celsius this week before the arrival of cloud and now torrential rain from Typhoon Matmo. The storm is then forecast to move right across the mountainous island and move from SE China northwards. http://www.jma.go.jp/en/typh/1410.html
