Over the next few days there will be a lot of fine, dry and sunny weather about. NW ern parts will see more cloud from a weather front which gathers itself by Sunday.
Friday – threat of isolated heavy, even thundery heavy showers inland central Britain.
Saturday – threat of isolated heavy, even thundery heavy showers inland southern England and East Anglia. Heavy rain for NW Scotland
Sunday – Persistent rain for N.Ireland and W.Scotland for part of the day
Into next week, the UK sits in-between the heat from the continent to the east, cooler air from the Atlantic out west, with an old weather front in the middle, bringing cloud and rain to the mix. Feeding up from the south will be heavy showers, interacting with the warmth and any extra energy from the sunshine that day. All lifting up with the potential to give some isolated torrential downpours and a fair few thunderstorms.
Next week – Heavy thundery showers combining with frontal rain from the west. Initially heavy showers feeding up from the south, but risk of heavy rain settling across the UK mid week.
There is a lot of doubt in the forecast for next week about where the bands of rain will settle and so where the heaviest rain will be, but at this point it is just a heads up that the quiet, settled weather does not look like lasting. In fact it looks rather soggy for some.
