Moonwalk London 10th May Weather

As 16,000 walkers prepare to leave Clapham Common on Saturday evening, what does the weather have in store? Hopefully not soggy bras

Moonwalk London 10th May Weather

Issued: 8th May 2014 11:14
Updated: 9th May 2014 10:05

Whether you are off on the Half Moon or the Full Moon or a volunteer on the night, it would take a lot to dampen the spirits of the decorated bra brigade.

The forecast for Saturday night, could be better but it could be worse. It will be windy
Currently, it will be blustery with a brisk SW wind. So that may assist you at the start away from Clapham Common towards the Thames, but could be against you on the return. Temperatures will be around 10 or 11C but with the wind it will feel colder.
What about the rain? There are still showers about, you'll see them on Saturday during the day but they should be easing overnight. They won't linger, so don't be surprised if you do get a light downpour, but it will be shortlived. It does look dry until at least 5am

Best of luck from all at Netweather!

Keeping warm advice from http://www.walkthewalk.org

Once you are at the start line do the following:

  • Don't hide your bra if you can possibly help it!
  • You will get warm once you get walking so prepare for that before hand - you don't want to stop to take layers off!
  • Put your weather protector over the top - seriously they are very, very effective and so simple
  • Put your Bumbag around your waist over the top of the plastic mac to keep it down and out of the way
  • Wrap your fleece around your waist so it's there if you need it
  • Keep your hat on... and if really cold put the hood of the weather protector underneath your cap... or buy one of our new beanies
  • Wear gloves
  •  Once you get going you can simply pull your weather protector out from under your Bumbag and through up around your neck so it's like a cape behind you. That way you can get it on easily if you get cold
  • Trust us - this is the best way of looking good and keeping warm!
  • Once you cross the Finish Line make sure you put on your clothes and wrap your foil blanket around you to keep you warm

The weather protector is in the clear plastic bag and is fantastic for keeping the elements off whilst allowing you to wear that bra with pride. It does keep you very warm. Don't take it out of the bag until you need it!

The space blanket is the foil item and should be worn after you cross the finish line. It's also a great reflector and should be tied over your Bumbag as you walk.

This year's London Moonwalk is sold out but there is the Scottish Moonwalk in Edinburgh in June and the Sunwalk in July from Battersea Park, London
