Quiet Today But Wet & Windy Weather On The Way
A fairly rare event this morning - the rainfall radar
is virtually blank with no rain across the UK at all. It should stay that way for the majority today but rain and wind is waiting in the wings..
It's been another chilly start to the day as well with Tulloch Bridge again taking the prize with a low of -4.8c. Highs today will typically reach 8-13c across northern England and Scotland with 13-15c further south.
Sunny skies will tend to become more hazy as the day wears on with cloud already fairly thick in the west this morning and thickening all the time - to the extent that some the odd drizzly patches of rain is possible through SW England and Wales and even NW England, these won't amount to much, but Ireland could catch some more meaningful showers.
Winds will also increase in western regions by the end of the day with gusts of 30-45mph in coastal parts by evening. At the same time some more potent and organised showers will move inland through Ireland and also start to affect the SW of the England and these will slowly move north and east overnight.
Tomorrow morning will see that showery and at times heavy rain affecting many parts of western and central England, Wales and western Scotland and it will gradually move through to affect all parts by the end of the day with blustery showers following in behind.
Rainfall totals will be on the high side, particularly through northwest England and a good deal of Scotland with 25-40mm+ possible here. It's also worth keeping an eye on the threat of some heavy downpours moving through southeast England later in the day tomorrow too - but this is less certain at this stage.
Friday is likely to see the rain struggling to clear the northern half of Scotland (in fact it could still be there right into the weekend), so rainfall totals will continue to mount here. Elsewhere it's sunshine and showers with the vast majority of the showers in southern and western regions..
