Fog, Frost, Sunshine, Rain & Wind - It's Definitely Autumn
After a weekend which in the main has shown off the sunny side of Autumn, the upcoming week is going to be a showcase for many of autumn's personalities - some further sunshine, some rain, some wind and some fog and frost to go with it.
As we start the new working week, it'll be the northern half of the country which continues with the drier brighter weather, but it'll be a chilly start from the midlands northward with one or two fog patches to contend with, and just a scattering of showers across the windier northern half of Scotland.
Further south, rain and gusting winds will have pushed up from the southwest overnight to bring a wet start to the day across much of Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia, with showers to both the south and north of the main band of rain. As we move through the day, the rain slowly but surely slides south - becoming more showery as it does so.
Into Tuesday, the day will start with a fairly widespread frost along with fog patches for a good deal of northern England and Scotland with some decent sunny spells developing through the day. Further south, the rain and blustery winds will continue to affect southern counties, and talking of wind - watch too for a blustery and chilly northeast wind affecting the east of the UK too.
That showery rain will hang around throughout much of the day in the south during Tuesday, only slowly becoming more confined to the southwest of England late on in the day and into Wednesday. Southerly winds will strengthen during the day too pushing some showers up through other western regions as the day goes on.
Showers or longer spells of rain will become widespread across the whole country from midweek onwards too, with some heavy rain possible at times and definitely something to watch after the recent very wet weather..
