Shock Horror - A Mostly Fine Weekend

Shock Horror - A Mostly Fine Weekend
It's been wet again overnight for a good deal of England and Wales with another 20-30mm falling over the last 24 hours in some parts, but that's just about cleared now and leaves the majority of the UK looking forward to a fine and dry weekend.

Temperatures today will peak at 13-16c across England and Wales, a touch cooler than this in Scotland, but winds will be light so it should feel pleasant enough - particularly during the sunny spells. There will be the odd shower here and there, particularly across the northern half of Scotland but if you do catch one you can consider yourself pretty unlucky. One place which will buck this trend though is the Channel Islands which will hang on to the rain for much of the day unfortunately.

Overnight, with plenty of breaks in the cloud temperatures will drop away pretty quickly - widely down into single figures and away from the towns and cities from the midlands northward it's likely to mean a touch of frost in many places.

Tomorrow will start on the chilly side, but then it continues in the same vein as today with plenty of pleasantly warm autumn sunshine on offer. Cloud will thicken from the southwest during the day though with rain and increasing winds reaching the far soutwest by the end of the day.

Next week starts with that rain and blustery wind continuing to affect the south of the UK, there will also be some blustery winds affecting the north and east of Scotland but in the main it's dry away from the south, but a little cooler than we saw over the weekend.

Tuesday keeps a similar pattern going with more wet weather at times in the south - perhaps becoming more limited to the southwest though. Those blustery winds will have worked their way south down the eastern side of the country by this point - so feeling cooler still here.

Beyond that, it seems like the unsettled weather in the southwest may spread to other parts during the second part of the week - but this is a long way off at this stage.
