Showers Clearing, Heat Rising
There is still some heavy rain about for northern England, Scotland and SW England this morning but the general theme of the day will be for the majority of the showers to clear leaving many of us with plenty of dry weather.
The talking point as we led up to the weekend has been the potential for some pretty high temperatures across the southeast quarter of the country, and it's going to live up to it's billing with 30-32c possible today, perhaps a nudge higher tomorrow. Whether you enjoy or endure that sort of heat is personal preference but with the high humidity making it feel even warmer and nigh time lows not dropping below 20c for some, it's likely to feel quite oppressive and sticky.
Away from the hot zone, 18-23c will be the typical high, and there will still be the odd isolated shower about which may be heavy and thundery if you catch one.
Looking ahead to tomorrow it stays hot in the southeast quarter of England, there is also the prospect of more showers and thunderstorms developing tomorrow too with a good chunk of England, Wales and the northern half of Ireland at risk. There is the potential of some quite potent storms popping up, particularly in central and eastern regions of England - one to keep an eye on for sure...
Looking toward next week, the heat eases in the southeast with highs back into the mid-high twenties by Monday, which will be a day of sunshine and scattered showers. As we move through the middle few days of the week the northwest-southeast split keeps going though with the wetter, cooler weather in the northwest, further southeast it's drier and warmer.
It's a long way off, but the latter part of the week may see that change with unsettled conditions gradually taking over for all regions which doesn't bode too well for the bank holiday weekend - but there's a lot of uncertainty over this right now.
