ShowerFest - Headline Act: Heavy, Thundery Showers
A real rash of showers on the way today, and some of these will be heavy and thundery with just about all parts of the country in with a shot of catching a potent downpour and rumble of thunder.
In between the showers there is some sunshine to be had and temperatures will respond with highs heading up into the low twenties for many parts - it will feel humid though. The showers will tend to migrate north during the day, so for southern and southeastern parts in particular they should become fewer and further between into the afternoon, which at least spells some better news for
Wimbledon.
Overnight a good number of the showers will die away, but we need to watch for some further heavy downpours and potential thunderstorms moving up into southeast England, the east Midlands and East Anglia.
Into tomorrow that batch of thundery showers will have made their way into Northern England and will affect that region for much of the day. Elsewhere showers will also develop across Scotland, Wales and Southwest England but for central and eastern England there should be more in the way of dry, bright weather to be had. Again temperatures will make their way up into the high teens and low twenties.
By Friday we expect a band of heavy rain to have made it's way into Northern England and potentially also southern Scotland - this will only slowly push north and will be around right into the weekend so some high rainfall totals are a definite possibility. Other parts will see the risk of heavy showers and thunderstorms continuing.
All in all it's definitely not what the doctor ordered in terms of summer weather, but it could well make for a very interesting British Grand Prix. We have a
weather forecast and rain radar for Silverstone online so you can keep up to date with the latest.
