Drier & Sunnier Weekend
It's looking to turn drier and sunnier on Saturday across most areas, as low pressure moves away to allow a ridge of high pressure to build in from the southwest. Sunday should be dry and sunny across England and Wales too, but wet and windy weather looks to spread back in across Scotland unfortunately.
Back to today, bit of a north-south split in operation, with the driest and sunniest weather for the southern half of the UK. We have a strong and cool northwesterly breeze blowing across the UK - which will blow in a lot of cloud across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England - bringing showers or longer spells of rain through the day, with snow over the Scottish mountains. For the rest of England and Wales, most areas will be dry with sunny spells, though a few showers may filter down across The Midlands and East Anglia. Feeling cool in the northwesterly wind, though temperatures should reach 17C in London, 14C in Cardiff, though only 9C in Edinburgh and 10C in Manchester under the cloudier skies.
Becoming largely dry and clear tonight across most areas, and with winds easing it will turn cold with a touch of grass frost developing in rural areas. Then for Saturday, after a chilly and clear start most areas will enjoy a dry and sunny day, cloud will bubble up which may produce a few showers across Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Temperatures will reach 13-14C across northern areas, 15-16C across southern areas, though cooler down the east coast with an onshore breeze.
For Sunday, winds will become strong to gale force across Scotland and Northern Ireland, which will blow in cloud and rain, further south, much of England and Wales will remain dry with some good sunny spells and still remaining fairly warm with temperatures reaching the mid to high teens.
Unsettled across most areas on Monday, as the rain across the north slides south followed by showers in the north where it will remain windy with gales. Showery in the north on Tuesday, dry in the south, Then cloudy with spells of rain spreading across most areas for the rest of the week.
