Somw pics of today's snow storm around Detroit and Plymouth areas of Michigan

I am only here until Tuesday night and back on Wednesday morning and looks like there is fun and games back in UK

There was already 6 inchs on the ground when I got here on Thursday. Today already another 8 inchs has fallen and it is still snowing heavy

It was -26f (-??c) on Thursday night and only got to 0f Yesterday. Places not far from here recorded temps of -40f and below. A bit warmer last night only -9f. About 14f today (still well below 0c) The wind chill is extreme to say the least

Will post more as and when over the next few days

Amazing pics, thanks for sharing.

We could only ever dream of that much in the UK.I can only imagine the chaos it would cause.

This page is taking ages to load now with all these pics, but keep them coming, i'm happy to wait :)

It doesn't cause much chaos except in the heaviest of snow fall. All the builders that cannot work due to the weather attach ploughs to the front of their pick-ups / 4x4 and then get paid to clear the likes of supermarket car parks and so-on

They do drive a bit mad in the snow, suppose they are use to it

This is what we dream of a winter beach scene. These were taken at St. Joseph, Michigan just around the corner from Chicago on Lake Michigan. Just after I took these pics we were hit by lake effect snow. It is very very dangerous. I was taking the pics in the sunny conditions and within what seem to be seconds it was a white out, had a job to find my way back to my car ever though it was only 50yds away. And it went away nearly as quick

Most of these pics were of the beach. Notice the snow piled up on what appears to be the frozen lake and notice the harbour is little frozen

Brings back memories of when I was a kid (in Northamptonshire of course). i am talking of the winters of 79, 81/82 and 87

Any way back tomorrow so any more pics will have to wait until Wednesday evening when I eventually get home

Light snow showers overnight, beginning around 2245 and continuing into the early hours. Little accumulation though, areas which were free of snow yesterday evening now have about 5mm.
