The tornado of 21st of May 1950 was one of the longest lasting tornadoes to have ever struck the UK that we know of. The track of this tornado was about 68 miles long stretching from Buckinghamshire through Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and ending in north Norfolk.

Here is the 22nd of May 1950 edition of the Times on this tornado.

Strangely, Philip Eden reported 'no deaths' as a result of the tornado which doesn't seem to accord with the newspaper report. Coming less than a month after the late April snow in areas around the North Downs, this was clearly a strange and memorable period in UK weather history.
