Are you looking at this one http://www.passco.com/cancun.htm ?? It needs to be refreshed every now and then. By my reckoning the Cancun area has probably had about 150-200mm of rain since 0700 as it has been stuck in the 25-51mm per hour bracket and sometimes the red 51-127 mm/hour :D

Thanks S.B., 99L has been promising things since 25w, each day a new set of convection goes up. If it hits the 'warm loop' to the south of Cuba (and Wilma hasn't messed the 'air up too much) then we may have Alpha (or sooner??) :D

Cheers Shuggs

I know this is the Wilma thread, but the SHIPS model has Invest 99L having 48kts wind speed at 96 hours fro now - therefore making it a Tropical Storm and presumably Alpha!!

36 Hrs from now it'll be in the 'Warm loop' area off Cuba (if it continues moving as it had been, I think at the end of 'waiting for' thread I had Wilma off Flor and 99L in the 'nursery' forming into Alpha!) :D

The latest GFDL model has Wilma over Central Florida as a strong Cat 1/weak Cat 2. It also suggests she hangs around the Yucatan for ages, bringing her pressure up to about 980mb, then dropping to 970 on approaching Flor..

Intellicast Loop Atlantic Shows a full picture of the Atlantic - quite good loop.

I have seen a number of sites now say that Wilma will land as a cat 2 or 1 even (Florida that is!)...

Lovely loop Mondy - the last view is particularly nice...

Wilma is going to have quite a drag effect on 99L as she moves away into the Atlantic, my thoughts for now are, no further west than Jamaica, an Islands hurricane maybe, low order Cat....1 maybe 2

The eye is 30nm in stature btw and here's some info on Cozumel Island:

The Island of Cozumel measures 48 km (30 miles) from north to south but only 16 (10 miles ) from east to west :Dsource

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes - it'll soon be engulfed as well.... :D

Have you decided about your holiday yet?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

What an appropriate name :D

I guess it depends on how much damage occurs when the eye "passes" by Cancun. I will probably decide on Monday when the full extent of the damage may have become apparent...

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
